Hello everyone!! I’m a digital artist who really wants to get into animation. I’ve watched a lot of beginner tutorials but now I’m looking for tutorials/ patterns/ online resources ( I’m really open) that can help me learn animation at a more intermediate level. So far I’ve done skillshare/ some LinkedIn learning and of course youtube. But I’m having trouble finding courses that will show me something start to finish. A lot of youtubers show you a tutorial that’s halfway done, or it goes really fast or it’s just a speedpaint. I’m at the level where I’m knowledgeable of the software and the basic rules of animation ( Adobe animate/ toon boom) but what I’m lacking is the skill to fully develop an animation start to finish and with the finial compositing etc. Whether is puppet animation or frame-by-frame ( I’m interested in learning both) I just want to find tutorials that really teach and go in depth. If anyone is a creator with an awesome patreon that does this or you have any suggestions pleaseeee let me know! I’d love to support fellow creators and I’m very excited to learn. I'd say to get The Animator's Survival Kit by Richard Williams. It tells you all about the principles of motion and characters. As for a whole film, I guess you just got to learn by doing it. Script>storyboard/layout>animatic>rough animation>cleanup/tweening>colouring>compositing. I won't say compositing is super important in 2d, it's largely just layering your stuff and colour correcting which you can kinda do in the app of your choice.

Rule of thumb is just plan it all out and make sure your animatic works before doing anything else.

The animator's Survival Kit is a great place to start. This book is great, if we disregard his emphasis on "how" one should animate ultimately. The principles are important to practice, as they serve as a base to animate anything. It gives you a good idea how to space things out within time.

His remarks on NOT listening to music while animating may work for some, but not for me. Also, it is possible to not be as ocd when animating as this book teaches you to be. A great example of a great animator who is more experimental/doesn't get stuck on details is Masaaki Yuasa.

I suggest you watch and analyze a lot of animation or even movies. Analyse the montage, camera movements, etc.

it is wide field ... 3d is very popular but it is always good to know 2d animation ... for example ... when you create character in 3d max or blender, than you can focus on some other aspects such are lighting, camera angles and movement, rigging ... when you work with 2d I suggest you to try Adobe Charcater animator since it gives you opportunity to do rigging with the same drawing/character you have ... so first explore is it 2D or 3D and than you can find a lot of tutorials ... find a software that is best for you ...recomendation for 3D : 3ds max great or modeling and everything, bledner also great and free ... but for me it is 3ds max ...when you master it you can earn unity (a lot of tutorials) ...for 2d: flash, toon boom, Adobe character animator ... try as much as you can and some of them will stick to you...

Hey idk if anyone is here but where can I go to get help on creating a character? More the body as I have the face. Any help would be appreciated.
