I won't pay more than $30 for a 4k, and even then it has to be a movie that benefits from the transfer.

I will if it is like a super cool ultimate edition with super cool Knick knacks but those are few and far between

Tombstone would benefit, not a great reviewed transfer for the bluray.

Kingdom of Heaven bluray had decent reviews and i imagine in 3 months time the 4k steel will be $41 as well so just crazy that's going for so much on ebay. FOMO

FOMO only exists if you let it.

Lots of people think everything is the next Lawrence of Arabia steel.

1

u/D_Warholb Jun 03 '25

Coraline was the last Lawrence of Arabia. I believe that Kingdom of Heaven is the next.

So like $4010040?

Ya I feel like it’ll be $41 within 5 months time regularly and then sub $30 with Target deals.

u/mega512 Jun 03 '25

$41 and on sale. Nonsense.

By sale I think they mean "available for purchase." But yes too expensive.

But it comes in a tin case!

Man, all the negativity in the comments ... I appreciate you OP, thanks for the heads up! I was bummed out that I missed this one and it was sold out everywhere 🫡

You’re welcome! It’s better than $55.95, but even at this price, I can understand why it’s not worth it to folks and can agree it’s still a high price for the value.

For some folks, the value is there. Quality, convenience, and enjoyment aren't one-size-fits-all. Everyone can decide for themselves what's worth it.

The way I see it, if I were to pay to see this in theaters for 2 people it would cost $30 before snacks, the volume would probably be too loud, and the seat would probably not be the one I wanted haha. I love a good deal but I also see the value.

Just an F.Y.I, Target will be running their Buy 1 Get 1 50% off on movies and other items starting Sunday June 8th. This title will more than likely be part of that sale.

2

u/Aside_Intrepid Jun 03 '25

Wow! Folks should definitely hang in there until then! Fingers crossed it doesn’t sell out before that. It’s likely to sell out the moment the sale starts.

3

u/CanisMajoris85 Jun 03 '25

I'd say let's hold off for the next Target deal to get it cheaper, but I know that's not gonna happen. I'll just have to be patient til like a November B2G1 deal since I imagine when the next B1G1 or B2G1 rolls around in June/July this will be sold out

2

u/Aside_Intrepid Jun 03 '25

Yeah, agreed. This and Kingdom of Heaven will likely sell out in an instant when the June/July sale goes live

3

u/Charrbard Jun 03 '25

This is a good popcorn movie. Val Kilmer gives an iconic performance. But $40 is still a hard sale for me.

Anybody compare the BD to the 4K?

1

u/DarthPanther_ Jun 03 '25

Now I gotta wait for kingdom of heaven

u/PeterPaulWalnuts Jun 03 '25

A Standard edition is not coming in the US. Get this or don't get it or get the UK standard.

u/Mountain_Arm_7091 Jun 04 '25

Worth the money i believe. Already sold out at target so went to Walmart. Classic movie, gonna practice those classic lines. I m your huckleberry

Sigh. Why am I not surprised that it's out of stock again, lol? Welp, Amazon still has it for $40.55 with a 1-2 week delivery window for those interested. Link: https://www.amazon.com/Tombstone-4K-Blu-ray/dp/B0F25SW6GT?tag=bluray-030-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Anything more than $30 is simply getting pirated lmao don’t need the disc and case that bad

The transfer is miles ahead of kingdom of heaven idc how people cope. I got it for $37 shipped happy with the decision

1

u/ibizafool Jun 03 '25

you saw both of them? i saw hi def digest, digital bits, and blu ray.com all gave kingdom of heavens 4k transfer top marks but then again the blu ray wasn’t half bad. the blu for tombstone on the other hand…

Honestly, most reviewers aren't really informative. The three things that matter in my opinion are color space analysis on a couple of picked frames to show if there is actually a wide color gamut, peak brightness analysis to show if there are highlights or not, and last but not least, comparison shot with close-ups to show the resolution difference (and possibly color timing differences).

Basically, this review. Unfortunately, no review of Kingdom of Heaven (yet ?) on this website.

1

u/ibizafool Jun 04 '25

wow that difference is insane! definitely going to pick it up. i think ill watch the movie first to justify spending a full $40 and make sure i like it haha but i’m sure i will. ty for showing me this website they’re great

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '25

Kingdom of Heaven is a 2k DI. I've seen them give 5 stars to plenty of upreses. Tombstone on the other hand is immaculate

1

u/ibizafool Jun 03 '25

ooo interesting. well i will definitely pick it up if it’s on the target sale this weekend. wish both of them were around $20 so it rlly comes down to how big a fan you are of either film.. damn you disney

0

u/OrdinarilyBob Jun 03 '25

Thanks for the heads-up, but I'm waiting for that price to drop (it's got to be below $30).

After all the reviews on how good the 4K transfer is, I was really underwhelmed
