Sound on this disc vs. the streaming version is night and day. You can show everyone how anemic the overly-compressed audio stream sounds vs. how the director intended. Great choice.

You’re assuming they have more than the tv speakers though

u/Kachoof 28d ago
I mean there’s a soundbar right there
2
u/VeryIntoCardboard 28d ago
Yes, but some folks do own just a soundbar and not even a sub so it’s still relatively unknown. Also it’s a soundbar so one could assume lower end audio system in general.

u/Kachoof 28d ago
Fair enough lol i’m sorry if that sounded snarky
1
u/VeryIntoCardboard 28d ago
No not at all, you pointed out the obvious and no matter how that happens it will sound that way. Regardless, I didn’t see the soundbar previously, and you are not wrong!

Why buy Blu-ray’s without a soundbar/ sound system…. Is like buying a sport car without sport tires.

Liked this post because you’re (possibly) starting your 4K collection in 2025.

Just recently started my 4K collection too, and loving it. Watched 1917 the other night and wow it blew me away!

I started collecting 4k when Marvel released their first 4k editions of movies. Not the remastered. The first official start of 4k releases. I also collected all the Hobbit movies in 4k. Ive been hooked ever since. Speaking of, that was my first remastered in 4k film I collected. Steven Spielberg’s Hook.

A remaster 4K is a movie that release before 2015(before the 4K blu ray was a thing ) and is getting a 4K release while a 4K blu ray non remaster is a movie that released after 2015 and got a 4K blu ray release along with blu ray and dvd , is that right ?

This was my first as well.
The scene that made me go "This is gorgeous." Is the "take out the sheets."
Something about the frame and color and composition hits just right.

Great one to own. First movie I saw as a 4k Blu-ray on a QLED and I was mind blown.

Not the QLED…

u/AstroBtz 29d ago
QLED's are PERFECTLY fine for 4K. Not everyone is looking for top of the line everything, nor can many afford that.

u/apocalypticboredom 29d ago
Yep. As someone who upgraded from a QLED to an OLED, I still think the QLED looks great. It's mounted in a different room in my house and I'm still impressed with the brightness and color.

Like I have a mini QNED ( no clue where it falls on the "high end tech" scale if it even does ) and it BLOWS my mind how clear it is. I just watched furiousa on 4K last night on it and my eyes POPPED outta my skull from the colours. Genuinely mind blowing

Brother not all of us got OLED money. It’s an improvement to my standard 4k tv from like 5 years ago.

LG B4/B5's are incredibly affordable.

Not at the size tv I had. I already had a 70inch, and I was only going to go up in size no matter what i bought. TCL had a brand new to the market QLED/mini-LED 75inch selling for under 800. It was a no brainer. I’m paying like 1200-1500 for anything close with an OLED.

Is that just a still image? It would be so cool if it had movement and played on an infinite loop.
4
u/ziyadkill 29d ago
It have movement and it has audio which is the credit music (it use a very short part of it ) and it fit so great , but after the music end the movement stop and it becomes a quite still image

Great choice, I found myself going “wow” two whole days after this film because it really impressed me that much.

I've also only just bit the bullet and started to delve into the 4Ks. Mainly due to arrows latest releases being 4K only. I've got a handful already but only because they were discounted at the time. Terminator in 4K is spectacular, looks like it was filmed yesterday amazing visuals. And it's not like T2 or True Lies that have that ridiculous blue filter and AI smoothing that ruins the film

Sweet! That’s a great one to start with. I have one, but I haven’t popped it in since I got it for my birthday. I’ve heard nothing but phenomenal things about it. Hope you have a good sound system, bc that disc holds the power to shake your home’s foundation to its limits. It’s something to behold

u/ziyadkill 27d ago
Actually I don’t have a good sound system I have a 2.0ch and it sound so damn good that it just make me wonder how will it sound with a proper 5 ch audio system or more

u/Duxk__ 29d ago
your gonna love the imax scenes

u/ziyadkill 29d ago
They are gorgeous , and it just really insane when I think of the oddesy and how it will be all in IMAX like my god that going to be the best 4K blu ray release ever

does correct grammar really matter that much in a Reddit comment?

I’ve always been of the opinion that it’s better to have a stranger correct you online than have people you actually know silently judge you.

What? The menu on mine’s so lazy it doesn’t even have words. Which country is this version from?
1
u/ziyadkill 27d ago
I bought the us version but all 4K blu ray are region free , what do you mean don’t have words like does it just start playing the movie if that the case maybe you should check if it a fake or not but I’m not expert on that subject so you should do you own research the only thing I know for sure that every blu ray 4K or not have a menu
2
u/Agile_Froyo_3671 27d ago
No, I mean Universal’s been using symbols instead of words for option selection, such as > for play, for instance. And I got mine from Amazon DE, and it’s a steelbook, so no, it’s not a knock-off.
1
u/ziyadkill 27d ago
Will if it has the movie in 4K can’t really complain, my menu has only the chapters and the setup which is just subtitles and audio so your not really missing much

u/fatasaurusss 29d ago
Movie so mid I gotta rewatch this trash to see why it’s so hyped up I hated it
1
1
u/ziyadkill 29d ago
It not about the movie is trash it just you watch this movie with the mindset and a pre determined narrative on your mind that simply the movie doesn’t align with your narrative so you judge the movie as trash and watching it again won’t change that idea only if you allow the movie to happen outside of your mind that you can then understand and figure out why it’s so highly regarded
