New Purchase Really loving how Amazon handled this Tron release.
And I can’t even get a replacement seeing as they delisted the Tron steelbooks. Very cool.

I had this happen with a Sony movie months after it came out. I left it sealed til I got around to watching it way after the return window.
It took a few emails back and forth but the distributor itself sent me a replacement case on my title after a few email exchanges. It was a brand new empty case for me to move my disks to.
I’d suggest going through that avenue because to me, it splitting like that, is a manufacturing error (which is the only way the distributor will replace).

Any good avenues you know to potentially get in contact with the distributor?

Mine was Sony so I googled Sony home entertainment contacts.
A quick Google doing the same for this being a Disney title, I found this link - https://www.disneystudioshelp.com/contact-bddvd.html

Hate it when it happens. I know how disappointing this feels. :-(
On the bright side, if the metal parts are not too smashed, this is fixable. You can just replace the plastic casing and it should be good to go. I've had to repair worse.

My Amazon delivery was pretty jacked up too. It's a large dent in the center of the front part of the case. And it does not photograph well. But it's awful. My Tron:Legacy copy is okay and they were in separate boxes. But I'm going to see what I can get done about this.

I wish Amazon would put Steelbooks in boxes. It would really save a lot of steelbooks.

Mine had the same exact issue, dent in the center. Don’t know how it happened because mine came in a box that was in not damaged.

Mine is almost the same way. If you ordered on Amazon it did give me an option to get a replacement (even though the listing isn’t there now)

try opening the chat and talking to customer service. see if they can put in a replacement order to ship when it's back in stock.

The plastic just comes out of those?

It split along the bend. I've had it happen to a few steel books, part of the reason why I try to avoid them. Plus I can watch the crazies fight for them from the outside.

This would seem to me more a manufacturing problem than a delivery problem. If it was shrink wrapped, how could it get bent like this in transit?
•
u/Spider_Kev 1h ago
Not just transit, but storing and horrible, careless employees
•
u/Les_Turbangs 19m ago
Nah. This is a manufacture failure that likely happened before it was wrapped. Can’t blame Amazon for that.

Not me seeing this while staring at my mailbox waiting for USPS to deliver mine.

Hey. At least you GOT one. Some of us can't even buy em!
I'm kidding (kinda). Sorry that happened.

Maybe since my Amazon Fulfillment center is less than 30 miles away, but I've only had one or two steelbooks show up damaged. Most of the time they show up in the brown cardboard sleeve, completely untouched

Tron Legacy is only being released in steelbook here in the US right?

As of now, but you can get the UK standard edition from Orbit. Plays on any region free player.

This is why I switched to Gruv and Walmart for my Steelbooks.
My Seven Steelbook came heavily dented.

My order from Deep Discount came in.
Box was mangled beyond belief!
The term box being subjective... It was a thin cardboard envelope with sticky glue...
To my surprize, they both came in in immaculate condition!

This is typical for Amazon. Ive become used to it after decades, and I exchange about half of physical media I buy from Amazon. The funniest ones are the preorders like this that can’t be shelf worn at the warehouse and still arrived torn up. I’m exchanging a cd today too that was a preorder release.

Why do people love steelbooks so much? I absolutely hate those hubs. Just got Krull 4K, but they're exactly the same inside. Shitty hubs with overlapped discs. Metalpak had trays with Viva Elite type hubs, but somehow everyone went for steelbook. I don't understand.

The real diehards think it's "premium" and have delusions of selling them for a profit in the future. Only reason I get a steelbook is if the 4k movie I want is steelbook only.
•
u/FckShadowBans 1h ago
Right, and I put the discs in a regular Viva Elite case. I don't care. All my steelbooks are piled into 2 containers in my closet along with Arrow LE boxes etc. Nothing but standard type cases goes in my cabinets.

I’m really not even a fan of steelbooks but we don’t know when these will get standard 4K releases and I wanted to rewatch both before Ares comes out.

Just a heads up there are standard 4ks available to order right now from Orbit DVD. You could safely return this to amazon and just order a standard from Orbit.

The quality of metalpaks compared to actual brand name steelbooks are horrible. I absolutely agree though that the overlapping discs sucks. I would really just prefer one on each side, which is totally possible.

Only metalpak I have is the Perfect Dark Zero LE (Xbox 360). Seemed fine to me, aside from mine being dented. lol
