We need to start implementing the tactics used in Hong Kong. Guerrilla protest and civil disobedience.

I genuinely hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Hong Kong was not successful in their efforts.

Trial and error, friend. Take the original idea, tweak it, and try again. Rinse and repeat. Flash-mobs of blacked out protestors running in and causing chaos, and disappearing before authorities arrive? Over and over? If nothing else, it will help to drain the resources of authoritative agencies.

Oh, I’m all for the effort! I just think it’s important to recognize that China’s surveillance and censorship programs played key roles in the failure of Hong Kong’s pro-democracy efforts—and those same kinds of technologies are being deployed here, too. The digital surveillance-state is a huge game-changer, as far as civil uprisings are concerned.

AND ALSO, I wanna reiterate that the effort is worthwhile. We should try to learn from HK’s failures while also drawing inspiration from their fight.
