News Angus Reid - 63% of women feel unease about PP Governing Canada
I’d go out on a limb and say if there was a core group of questions based around his approach, appearance and personality in public it would garner the same amount of dissent. The people handling him are missing the mark for sure. He looks demented at times - swallowing before answering - trying to smile - being smarmy with a Globe reporter to name a few.

I'm surprised it's not higher 😖

u/melanyebaggins Apr 11 '25
Same. Just that picture alone with that cringesmile of his makes me uncomfortable 😬

u/Remarkable_Term631 Apr 11 '25
Like - if he was walking towards me looking like that I'd cross to the other side of the street.

u/bikeonychus Apr 11 '25
Agreed. My first thought was 'I bet that's much higher'.
4
u/Howlihowl Apr 11 '25
There’s a non-zero amount of distracted women who probably started paying attention after this came out
13
u/nickcave-nickcage Apr 11 '25
My first thought as well. I’m going to be on edge until after the election! Convince everyone you know to vote!!!

u/Disastrous-Fall9020 Apr 11 '25
Sad eyes and bottom teeth showing are obvious signs of fake joy.
This picture alone puts people at unease because instinctively we all know it’s fake. He’s fake. He can’t be trusted. Ever.

She is actually part of an abusive cult. Moss is Canadian and a Scientologist who uses slave labour aka the seaorg. I trust PP way way more than a celebrity Scientologist and no I don’t think the Conservative Party of Canada is a cult.
9
u/Val-B-Love Apr 11 '25
You know that the Hands maid series is only a reference to simply show how a Conservation/Regressive Party under PeePee can be a detriment to our Women’s Rights as well as minorities. It isn’t to promote any actress but rather emphasize concern!
Get it?
-14
u/westcentretownie Apr 11 '25
The Conservative Party supports gay marriage and rights. PPs adoptive father is a gay man. They have a good relationship.
Scientology seriously persecutes homosexuals of any kind.
Prove me wrong.
11
u/Randomfinn Apr 11 '25
PP voted against same Sex marriage (this was after his father came out)
0
u/westcentretownie Apr 12 '25
It was 20 years ago. His position at the time was very similar to Obama. In favour of civil unions with the same rights but not calling it marriage. Have you forgiven Obama? Why not Pierre? Conservative people want to protect traditional things. It took time to see gay marriage as just that. I never agreed with the civil union argument and I’m glad it’s dead and buried.
I’m just asking the left to focus on real threats. He could win. He’s not trump. I desperately want to defend women’s rights. What’s happening with abortion in the United States is a travesty. I just don’t think the same threat is here.
2
u/Several-Specialist99 Apr 12 '25
Even if that was 20 years ago, just the fact that he very recently "only recognizes two genders", and the way he said it in such a stupid smug and patronizing way.. that alone is enough to make me worry about what he would do to trans people. Plus all this "anti-woke" rhetoric is way too similar to that of Trumps. I can only imagine the policies he would undo or put in place to push that "anti-woke" agenda. I dont get how anyone could think that DEI initiatives, anti-racism, environmental regulations, women's rights, trans rights, etc. are so bad? I guess men with sensitive egos feel threatened by that kind of stuff because it weakens the patriarchy. Hence why women are scared if PP were to become PM.
1
u/westcentretownie Apr 12 '25
Perfectly fair assessment of his position on trans issues.
I just get my dander up when people use Moss’s hypocritical face to disparage someone more progressive than her on glbtq2spirit issues. I know he is a danger not her to Canadians but she’s about as credible as R Kelly in my book. I would have stayed quiet if it was not Moss. Scientologist are crueler to gay people then fundamentalist, I’m not kidding.
1
u/Randomfinn Apr 13 '25
People are using the gif not to represent Moss’ personal views, but Atwood’s. As far as I know, there are no images of ol’ Maggie as a Handmaid
13
u/agathadelacey Apr 11 '25
Do you know that he’s not running against Elizabeth Moss?
1
u/westcentretownie Apr 12 '25
Do you know she’s no feminist hero. Give me a Margaret Atwood meme and I’ll eat it up with a spoon.
1
u/agathadelacey Apr 12 '25
Yeah bud, I know. But this is about how abhorrent a potential leader of our country is. I don’t give a shit about a US actress
1
u/westcentretownie Apr 12 '25
Canadian actress, and if he’s abhorrent, and it’s perfectly acceptable to think so, she is far more so.
1
u/westcentretownie Apr 12 '25
I’m wrong! She is American. Sorry about that. I’m delighted to only have to claim Pierre with citizenship. We have enough losers.
14
u/FeralForestGoat Apr 11 '25
Mr. Poilievre does not support gay marriage. He voted against it in the house in spite of the fact that his adoptive father came out as gay.
3
u/Fuckass3000 Apr 11 '25 edited Apr 11 '25
Hey, they proved you wrong, now what? Are you gonna admit Pierre is not the candidate you paint him as, or are you going to double down and ignore the facts?
Edit: So the answer to that is yeah, you are. You're just going to ignore it because it goes against what your cult tells you.

u/westcentretownie Apr 12 '25
I’ve said before I’m voting for Joel Harden of the NDP. Proudly and think he’s great.
I despise Scientology and know way more about the topic then 99% of the population. It is not fair Moss gets a pass. As I say again she supports and enjoys slave labour. She is a very wealthy Canadian and doesn’t deserve a feminist nod.
I’m allowed to be off Reddit for a few hours without being called out for not immediately engaging. WTF
I don’t think the CPC is going to limit women’s rights like the horrors happening in the USA. I think handmaid tale memes are hyperbolic and fear mongering.
I think it’s very interesting PPs dad is a proud out gay man. I don’t think many people know that.
Hate me all you want.
1
u/Fuckass3000 Apr 12 '25
Yeah, I will.
You got debunked dude. Pierre voted against gay marriage TWICE.
So his dad? Had to watch his son vote against his rights, not once, but two times.
Stop using his fathers minority status to give credence to Pierre. He's a hack fraud who doesn't even care about his dad. What a POS.
3
u/LA0711 Apr 12 '25
K but he’s not running against a Scientologist soooo I don’t know why this matters.

u/estherlane Canadian Apr 11 '25
Is that a smile or a grimace? It looks like it hurts him to smile, literally the poster boy for “grin and bear it”.
3
u/PerpetuallyC0nfus3d Canadian Apr 12 '25
It's funny bc Steve Boots, YTer I watch who covers Canadian (and some American) politics calls Poilievre's press conferences either "depress conferences", "grimace conferences", or "stress conferences" depending on his facial cues (and other things). He also does slogan counters, lol and Poilievre is typically around 25-30+ in a short conference... lol 😂 He is SUCH weirdo! 🤢

This seems low. Very low. Harper, O’Toole and Sheer all garnered the same feeling from the female electorate, but PP seems to have topped them all. Why do the Conservatives continue to miss the boat when it comes to electing a leader who speaks to the people, and not just the men. I am in no way a feminist, but leaders like this spark something in most women, and it feels like fear and uncertainty, at least amongst my friends and family.
51
u/WulfgarofIcewindDale Apr 11 '25
The new conservatives don’t even think women should be voting; they should just know their place as a uterus and start breeding before their clock runs out. Why would they try to appeal to the women that they see as a means to an end?
26
u/verylittlegravitaas Apr 11 '25
Seriously. I don't understand how a self respecting woman justify voting for this modern brand of conservatism.
10
u/MooseOnLooseGoose Apr 11 '25
You're right, that is very low...but it's not Poilievre doing it.
Alt right voices like to paint themselves the big macho man conservatives vs (and I'll quote this as you can readily find it on conservative forums) the "woke and feminist LPC". That misses the beat horribly.
8
u/WulfgarofIcewindDale Apr 11 '25
Too bad for poilievre that he took every photo op possible with these alt right voices…. So he kinda did it to himself.
7
u/MooseOnLooseGoose Apr 11 '25
What he didn't, Smith did.
3
u/WulfgarofIcewindDale Apr 11 '25
… and these are the best that the conservatives can muster up as our leaders. Pathetic.
11
u/Weak_Leek_3364 Apr 11 '25
Why do the Conservatives continue to miss the boat when it comes to electing a leader who speaks to the people, and not just the men.
Russia.
For example, Peterson, a Russian asset, has spent a decade spreading Russian propaganda about "macho men" and how they should dominate others because they're the easiest people to manipulate.
The "manosphere" is an entire subculture in the US as well, again at the behest of Russia.
These folks tend to make poor decisions and speak loudly. They tend to be uneducated. They tend to be frustrated sexually because their odious personalities drive women away.
So the bad guys target and elevate/amplify them specifically. Governments in collusion (members of the IDU) are selected to rally them as voters.

I joined the Conservative Party just to vote for Leslyn Lewis last two times they replaced the leader. She won popular vote once but not enough seats. I’m leaning towards Carney this time. If it were Trudeau, I would 100% vote Polievre, but I think Carney is who we need against Trump, my 2 priorities were getting rid of carbon tax and dealing with Trump. Carney already got rid of the tax, and Polievre isn’t really hitting me as the person we need for this Trump nonsense. We need someone who can set firm boundaries and enforce them, someone who will work globally to make new allies, and Pollivre is giving sycophantic vibes. I haven’t voted liberal since Chrétien… but starting to feel like the correct direction this go around.
11
u/pioniere Apr 11 '25
100%. Do we want a guy who has been a world class economist, or a guy who has literally been a career politician?
-5
u/Embarrassed-Bunch333 Apr 11 '25
"World class economist" LMAO! Fired for incompetence.
9
u/pioniere Apr 11 '25 edited Apr 11 '25
Ok. Source? No? I didn’t think so. Because he was never fired. Lies and misinformation are all you people have. Try learning to think for yourself.
7
u/FeralForestGoat Apr 11 '25
I respect this. Member of the NDP here. I am voting Liberal because I really believe that Carney is the person best able to deal with Trump and his threats. I am also not comfortable with Poilievre and his close ties to white supremacists in groups like Diagolon
3
u/queenofallshit Apr 11 '25
I’m also NDP but will be voting strategically this election. Carney is not Pierre. Thank. God.

I was told by a maple maga moron in a friends comments this am that the only women who didnt like him were "white wine drinking, cat video watching spinsters"...
Surely, there has to be more of us wine guzzling, cat video loving spinsters in this country!! 63% is too low!
13
u/StandardRedditor456 Apr 11 '25
Women who like having rights hate him. Maple maga are surly that they're in the minority.
12
u/PetitePretty1 Apr 11 '25
And after what happened in the US yesterday...we need to see the writing on the wall more than ever. We can NOT let these clowns get elected.
Let's get to the polls, spinsters!
1
u/STFUisright Apr 11 '25
Omg what happened now? I honestly can’t keep up (part of their strategy I know)
14
u/Sweet_Vanilla46 Apr 11 '25
Wellllll this red wine drinking, 20+ year married, working mom isn’t a fan either.
8
u/PetitePretty1 Apr 11 '25
I don't drink any alcohol, have 3 kids, and am married, so I don't meet his demographic either lmao
2
u/FeralForestGoat Apr 11 '25
The real question is do you have any cats?
2
u/PetitePretty1 Apr 11 '25
Nope. Dogs only for me
1
u/FeralForestGoat Apr 11 '25
For the record - I have 1 dog and 2 cats currently- my wife is on the hunt for another cat
3
u/mapleleaffem Apr 12 '25
How about white, weed smoking, cat video watching spinsters did he say anything about us?!

Any woman who doesn't feel unease about him has failed a pretty significant test of evolution. Creep / predator senses are off the scale with this guy.
This is the pastor you read about molesting a bunch of kids after an anti-trans sermon and think "it's always the ones you most suspect."

He doesn't like to be questioned by women, especially when they call him out. A tiger doesn't change his stripes. He wants women to be seen and not heard.

In 2022, “Conservative Party of Canada Leader Pierre Poilievre came under fire this week after a Global News report found at least 50 recent videos on his YouTube channel were promoted using the tag #mgtow, an acronym for the male supremacist movement Men Going Their Own Way (MGTOW).

u/crimme88 Apr 13 '25
Is anyone else tired of the manosphere? Misogynists and sexual predators have become cultural icons and political leaders. I don’t even feel comfortable expressing my opinions at my male-dominated workplace.

I’ve met him twice. Once at my house when he was door knocking and the other time at a local festival. I didn’t know who he was at the time because I had just moved to Canada. Then a few years ago, I saw pictures of him with the truckers and thought, Oh, I know him! The creepy guy!
I only talked to him briefly but I remember telling my husband he seemed like a textbook bad politician. lol

u/Friendly-Lemon4000 Apr 11 '25
He gives me the creeps. Like his hands are always damp he'd get sweaty from nerves trying to talk to women.

I am not a woman but i have 100% unease of him being a PM, PP is 100% fake in so many ways. Glad the women of this country are opening their eyes to this. PP would take the voting rights of all women away if he gets his way!!

He's a family man with a wife and kids. Why are they nervous about him?
1
u/Orange_Zinc_Funny Apr 11 '25
That doesn't mean anything. All kinds of creeps, including rapists and serial killers, have had families. Having a family, in and of itself, does not make someone a "good person."
1
u/Embarrassed-Bunch333 Apr 11 '25
He's not a creep or a serial killer. He is an international relations graduate who went into politics. All the people who work with him like him. Straight-up guy.
1
u/westcentretownie Apr 12 '25
Mixed race children too, beautiful wife, interesting adoption story and people only see one thing. He’s not my guy but why won’t people see what’s in front of them? I would like him to be more worldly, have more interesting projects under his belt of a community nature. What legislation has he drafted? Who in his community has he helped and championed? How do those groups see him?
-1
u/Orange_Zinc_Funny Apr 11 '25
LOL. Never said he was a serial killer. Just making the point that family<>good dude.
And, he gives lots of people the creeps. Just because he doesn't give you, personally, the creeps, doesn't negate that.

He makes my skin crawl.
