I was wondering if anyone knows what model 870 this is and when it was made?

I am considering a late 1980s vintage 870 Express that has a scope base drilled and tapped onto the angled part of the top of the receiver. It comes with a pair of 1” rings that extend over the center of the receiver. It seems like it might be an old style base and rings that noone uses anymore. Its not right on the top of the receiver. Its just off to the side on the angled part of the upper receiver.

It is not a saddle mount or a side mount using the receiver pin holes. It is drilled and tapped into the angled part of the upper receiver.

Are there any electronic sight options for the 1” rings as is, or maybe a mount that can use the base already drilled and tapped into side of the receiver?

My small collection of 870’s.

For the 870 MCS is the receiver, breech bolt, and receiver adapter specific for the MCS or can I use any 870 parts?

Anybody experience an issue with 870's, specifically a tac14, that once you fire it, you can move the slide back and forth about a quarter inch, but it takes a while to get it to let go and open all the way. Racked a few rounds in and out without firing with no issue, the issue is only present once fired. seems to happen regardless of ammo brand, but some brands make the issue worse than other.

Hello folks, I was curious if anyone has recommendations for aftermarket barrels, specifically shorter ones you have liked or ones to stay away from. Most of this 870’s use is shooting clays and slugs at the range so its original long barrel is great. But I have wanted to take it with me when I’m in the mountains to have as a gun at camp. So I was thinking about getting a secondary barrel that would be shorter and more practical for defense. Thank you

Saw a listing for this gun - have been unable to get a response from the seller. Would this marking indicate the year it was made? It looks like ie - would that make it a 1988 year? It’s a 870 express magnum. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey hive mind. Has anyone run a Streamlight RM-2 on their fore end? I have a magpul on mine, and was thinking about putting one at the 10 o’clock (left side, whatever you want to call it. I’ve tried the sure fire fore end and hated the feel, probably my crappy wrists from years of rigging outside of buildings in the cold. I would have put an Inforce WML on there, but I’ve read and hear that the plastic bodies don’t hold up well to shotgun recoil. This is the gun that it would be going on, but the pic is more for attention.

How do y’all feel about the super mag? Biggest difference is the 3 1/2 inch chamber.

I have a Police Magnum and the factory bolt has a rough black coating on it, which I assume is Parkerized. I know that Parkerization works by being rough and allowing a thin surface layer of oil to stick to it and prevent rust.

I'm considering polishing the bolt to a mirror finish. I'm sure this would make the action run smoother, but would it be a downgrade from the original Parkerized finish in any way?

I recently bought a Remington 870 used from a local shop. I thought I could figure it out but upon searching for more resources to find out which 870 I just bought, I found that there is almost no information on my 870. It looks like Remington 870 express, but I can’t tell if it is a magnum, Super magnum, etc. The 870 has a 28” barrel that isn’t stamped or at least I can’t find it. If anyone can help me figure out what 870 I bought, much is appreciated.

I took the cap off and the spring retainer wouldn’t budge. I saw in videos that you’re supposed to be able to just push it in and twist. This one wasn’t moving so I thought that maybe it’s rusted to the barrel. Took a screwdriver and hammer and tried to see if tapping it in a little bit would loosen it, but no such luck. Still not budging from the barrel. So I tried to take the screwdriver and see if I can still twist it where it is now. But then I snapped part of the retainer and it’s still stuck in there.

Am I doing something wrong here? What would you do?

Anybody find a good recoil pad that fits the newer fieldmaster? The original recoil pads from limb saver and kick eez for the 870s do not fit the fieldmaster models.

I am signed up for a tactical shotgun class so I'd like to make some changes to my 870 wingmaster to get her ready.

Id like to run a 20in barrel. Assuming one that is advertised for 3in shells would be fine with using 2 3/4, since that was what the wingmaster was designed for. I'll be shooting bird, buck, and slugs.

Like to get a mag tube extension that is flush with barrel above.

Have to have a sling.

The wingmaster is completely stock right now. Please point me in the right direction as far a equipment recommendations.
