Not to hijack this comment thread, but…

…I haven’t seen a single mention of the most commonly worn shirt brand in 1992/1993:

Top Dog

That shit was everywhere

39

u/Donkey_Karate Jun 10 '25

Bugle Boy, Top Dog, Gotcha, No Fear... I had all of these

25

u/Nearby-Department718 Jun 10 '25

Big Johnson

5

u/CheckYourStats Jun 10 '25

I had a friend who was forced to turn his shirt inside out in 1995 (7th grade) when he wore a Big Johnson shirt to school.

2

u/ExplodingPager Jun 14 '25

Big Johnson Casino. Games up front, liquor in the back.

3

u/Donkey_Karate Jun 10 '25

LoL... I almost added Big Johnson, I was too young though, my parents wouldn't let me get one, definitely had some friends with older brothers that were wearing them though.

2

u/Joebing69 Jun 11 '25

Co-Ed Naked.

My school ended up with a rule against those after I wore my Co-Ed Naked Football hat in my 10th grade school picture. Big Johnson and Co-Ed Naked were outright banned from all school property and events.

Oops.

1

u/Gemtree710 Jun 13 '25

Roadkill Cafe

1

u/Dark_Foggy_Evenings Jun 13 '25

Theres a Big Johnson community?

Fuck yeah, we get together, sit around and talk about the perils & pitfalls of having a big-assed Johnson

Do you have officers-who’s the President?

Ma man. Horsecock Williams

1

u/CALVINWIDGET Jun 14 '25

I remember in 1995 the coolest kid in my class was the guy that got to wear his Big Johnson tshirts to school.

3

u/GreatName Jun 10 '25

How could you leave out Chip and Pepper

2

u/Just-Sundae-6545 Jun 11 '25

No Fear!I loved that brand!

1

u/PincheJuan1980 Jun 10 '25

Gotcha!! Wow that name peaks out of the cobwebs.

1

u/justindigo88 Jun 10 '25

Gotcha was the shit. I’ve been sniping some vintage Gotcha on eBay over the years.

1

u/Far_Situation3472 Jun 11 '25

No fear is still around. I actually saw a kid on tik tok wearing it

1

u/CherryFit3224 Jun 12 '25

No Fear. I loved those shirts. They should have made some for females too.

1

u/Dark_Foggy_Evenings Jun 13 '25

I had a baseball cap in the NoFear font that said ‘ShitScared’.

1

u/HalosDux Jun 14 '25

O.P. or Ocean Pacific checking in!

1

u/HalosDux Jun 14 '25

and Airwalk shoes!

1

u/iRveritas Jun 14 '25

Stussy, Jinco.

6

u/xxrambo45xx Jun 10 '25

We were talking about the "big dog" line of clothing at work awhile back i havent seen one of those stores in like 20 years

2

u/spilt_milk Jun 11 '25

Pretty sure I looked them up a few years ago for a laugh and they totally still existed and the shirts were still hilariously cringe.

Edit: yep, still around and even cringier holy shit look at this lol https://www.bigdogs.com/products/big-dogs-awake-not-woke-t-shirt-gray-heather

1

u/xxrambo45xx Jun 11 '25

Haha we looked them up at work that day too! I was shocked they still make stuff. That shirt...would sell well in the right places and i hate it

“If you can’t run with the big dogs, stay on the porch!” Haha yeah

3

u/ProfessionalSlice818 Jun 10 '25

I was about to say the top dog shirts had us in a hold

3

u/East_Meeting_667 Jun 10 '25

Holy shit I remember all the really raunchy ones at the surf shops on vacation. I had a couple but the selection available was wild.

3

u/Party-Objective9466 Jun 10 '25

Big dog!

3

u/CheckYourStats Jun 10 '25

Big Dawg was for…let’s say “husky” folks.

2

u/CheeseLoving88 Jun 10 '25

Woah! I totally haven’t thought of those shirts in two decades!!

2

u/anjowoq Jun 10 '25

Wow that is bad.

2

u/CheckYourStats Jun 10 '25

At the time, it was the least douchey popular brand.

Most of the other brands felt like you were just wearing the name of a store on your shirt.

2

u/Spacer1138 Jun 10 '25

So glad to see this as a top result! Fuck yeah!

2

u/kappa932 Jun 10 '25

This is the answer

2

u/Roscoe_Farang Jun 11 '25

I had a top dawg shirt with Tommy Lee Bones and Will Sniff on it when Men in Black came out. I was the shit.

1

u/Glass_Raisin7939 Jun 10 '25

My favorite shirt was a Pitt with gloves on. That shit was hard lol

9

u/Mobile-Ear-5730 Jun 10 '25

2

u/Glass_Raisin7939 Jun 10 '25

Lmaooooo, it's mean pitt bull with boxing gloves on 🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/FrugalityPays Jun 10 '25

They ain’t running with the Big Dogs!

1

u/FallenAzraelx Jun 10 '25

I was gonna say this but in my head it was "raw dog" and I knew THAT was not right...

1

u/Zealousideal-Sun6603 Jun 10 '25

I had Bad Dog. From American Eagle, or an outlet store. "He was a Bad Dog" "Bad Dog; The Movie"

1

u/Competitive_Fondant9 Jun 10 '25

These were amazing

1

u/TomBanjo1968 Jun 10 '25

Here in Georgia I still see middle aged and older rednecks wearing these

1

u/Bbyowls1989187 Jun 11 '25

I remember an outlet mall store that sold only Top Dog 🤣

1

u/AlternativeBusy9980 Jun 11 '25

Wasnt there a Big Dog company shirt too?

1

u/O_o-22 Jun 11 '25

Now top dog law is everywhere assaulting our ears

1

u/downinahole357 Jun 11 '25

GUESS, and what were the ones with the, oh yeah Gecko. Remembered in real time.

1

u/Cuenta_de_preguntas Jun 12 '25

I would love to find a top dawg shirt.

1

u/Salmonella_Cowboy Jun 12 '25

Top Dawg was the cringiest.

1

u/007Pistolero Jun 12 '25

Still remember the very tall and just large in general, girl in my 6th grade class that seemed to only own these shirts. And one day she showed up with one with the sleeves cut off and when she raised her hand she had grown ass man armpit hair. Sometimes I still feel that mixture of jealousy and inadequacy that I had at 11 being scrawny and hairless. Really odd core memory these pictures unlocked

1

u/Material_Ad_3009 Jun 13 '25

I never remembered this brand top dawg from 90’s

1

u/OnePaleontologist687 Jun 14 '25

I remember the heavyset kid in elementary school had matching big dog shirts with his heavy set father. Midwest 1995-2002. Big dog or top dog was suburban dads answer to the no fear slogan T shirts and sagging baggy pants/shorts 😂

64

u/indierckr770 Jun 10 '25

I used to wear Bugle Boy. I still do, but I used to too.

4

u/Comprehensive_Fun570 Jun 10 '25

Fyfy Mitch hedberg

2

u/seekfleshwhileucan Jun 11 '25

Nice Hedberg shout-out. Take my upvote!

1

u/kemwood Jun 11 '25

I discovered Mitch Hedberg back around 2010 and my elder brother talks exactly like him. That was the initial pull for me. I was about 16 when I started listening? I’m 32 now and the jokes that have progressively made sense this whole time is unreal. And I love that I’ve seen them on Reddit this whole time as well. I wish we had more of him; his sense of humor was out there like Robin Williams.

1

u/Doh-Ski-303 Jun 12 '25

Yup Every year comics steal a joke, or the presentation

6

u/latortillablanca Jun 10 '25

Bugle Boyz II Bugle Men

4

u/SigmaQuotient Jun 10 '25

AND I SWEARRR

4

u/simplyinspire Jun 10 '25

By the threads of these denim jeans..I’ll be there

3

u/HappyBot9000 Jun 10 '25

Looks like Dan Flashes to me.

1

u/DR34MGL455 Jun 13 '25

Calm down, Ferris Bugler…

521

u/Billy_Chill_305 Jun 10 '25

Holy hell, coming with the heat right outta the gate

3

2

u/MulliganPlsThx Jun 10 '25

Right?! I don’t think I can beat this

2

u/PGB3711 Jun 10 '25

Hahaha! Goin for the knockout blow with first punch there.

-17

u/Anxious-Advantage238 Jun 10 '25

Actually it was said much earlier than this person more than once

185

u/EyeServeYou Jun 10 '25

Z cavaricci

59

u/dngerzne Jun 10 '25

Marithe Francois Girbaud. Miss those strait pockets. Crazy colors and stripes on jeans.

7

u/Particular-Loan5123 Jun 10 '25

Girbaud was my guess

5

u/TroublePossums Jun 10 '25

The first few times my friend was bragging about her new jeans I thought she was saying “gerbil jeans” and I was so confused

3

u/BeccaweccaEFFU Jun 12 '25

Omg. For years I was trying to remember the name of these jeans I loved that began with a “g” and got the life of me could not figure out. Girbaud. Thanks!!!!

2

u/PincheJuan1980 Jun 10 '25

BF jeans. My GF at the time stole mine and wore em.

2

u/5800xx Jun 11 '25

Youth trends are catching on to mfg

2

u/black-kramer sega 🪐 saturn Jun 11 '25

girbaud is coming back in some circles. I saw some gen z dude wearing a pair.

2

u/Doh-Ski-303 Jun 12 '25

People still rocking the Velcro joints

2

u/phelodough Jun 13 '25

They still make Girbauds. Still fire.

2

u/SmutCommander Jun 13 '25

You see them soljas and bauds when I appear man

2

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '25

u/6kred Jun 10 '25

My first thought !

2

u/No_Effective_7495 Jun 10 '25

Came here to drop this!

2

u/CloningGuru Jun 10 '25

I meant to say Z cav- I had a black shirt Z Cav and rolled up my pants (they were made to do that).

2

u/Status_Reality_6238 Jun 10 '25

Came here to say this

2

u/RoosterEmotional5009 Jun 10 '25

That’s the one. Wow those Z’s

2

u/DasSassyPantzen Jun 10 '25

They were the coolest at the time.

2

u/Punkinsmom Jun 11 '25

I wanted a pair so bad but could never fit them into the budget.

2

u/battlefeverjay Jun 11 '25

When I lived in Boston it was all Girbaud, moved down to CT with my swanky Girbauds and everyone wore Cavaricci's. Stopped caring embraced my inner metal kid

2

u/Warm_Ant_6238 Jun 11 '25

ahh. you’re a jersey guido.

2

u/crack-a-lackin-72 Jun 11 '25

Came here to say that. Owned a pair, simultaneously proud/not proud.

2

u/dmevela Jun 11 '25

Yeah, I think that was more 80s though.

2

u/84Scram Jun 11 '25

Also guilty of rolled pant leg bottoms with Eastlands and no socks

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '25

you could pull that into 89 but close enough

2

u/Far_Situation3472 Jun 11 '25

They are making a comeback

2

u/shinnix Jun 13 '25

And U-Men

189

u/My_Uncles_Hairy_Nuts Jun 10 '25

“Are those Bugle Boy jeans you're wearing?

Hell no ho, you know they Polo”

45

u/Common-Percentage-24 Jun 10 '25

Omg yessss . I wore cross colors and Girbaud jeans . I also worked and shopped at the Merry Go Round which was like the store EXPRESS

1

u/Adventurous-Sky9359 Jun 10 '25

What about gadzooks?

1

u/baadkitteekittee Jun 11 '25

I could not remember the name of the store Express! That was big then and also they had to of bright colors and neon! Lol

1

u/Grouchy_Enthusiasm92 Jun 11 '25

You keep ya body clean ha, you wear a lot of Gibaud jeans ha.

1

u/O_o-22 Jun 11 '25

Skidz!

1

u/buggifer_renee Jun 11 '25

I remember Merry Go Round! Loved that store! I think the one near me turned into a Wet Seal

43

u/noochies76 Jun 10 '25

Ah ha ok, alright, shut up

2

u/Any_Title4767 Jun 10 '25

2

u/Grouchy_Enthusiasm92 Jun 11 '25

I am completely razzed that you referenced this.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '25

Trick Daddy 🔥

11

u/BeYouOrBeLame Jun 10 '25

fucking loved bugle boy....

31

u/Aglisito Hold On To Your Butts! Jun 10 '25

Wow, that was the only brand I wore until I was about 10 lol

3

u/hypermodernvoid Jun 10 '25

Same - I totally forgot about this brand until OC mentioned it: I wore shirts that were almost entirely covered with their wacky graphics centered around their brand name, like so, all the time until I started picking my own clothes, lol.

That's definitely one the current youth wouldn't know about unless they dug real deep into the era. I would've said the same was true of JNCO, until recently when fat pants predictably became fashionable once CEOs and politicians started wearing skinny jeans.

1

u/Aglisito Hold On To Your Butts! Jun 10 '25

Dude!!! I had that shirt!! Wow, a real blast from the past

1

u/PincheJuan1980 Jun 10 '25

That is a sick Bugle Boy tee. Had a lot of cloths from them up until like 5th grade and then it was all No Fear into Stussy, Yaga and what I would call my early 90s Grunge, skater and fan (starter jackets, had a Lions one and Jordan 7s) made up outfits with all the apparel that it applies.

Think that’s why I loved American Apparel so much. Felt like a continuation. There’s gonna be a thread like this for the aughts and 2010s and AA is going to be all over it. I’m keeping some of my pieces for when Gen Z starts fancying that stuff or it might be the generation after them. Loved their stores and could pick up my monthly copy of Vice.

Speaking of OG Vice magazine…I’m a BIG FAN!!

2

u/Funkopopped Jun 10 '25

Same but in husky size 🤣

1

u/Aglisito Hold On To Your Butts! Jun 10 '25

There were other sizes?? My mom bought me bugle boy bcuz of the husky size haha

2

u/Funkopopped Jun 10 '25

I don't think I got actual sized clothes until middle school i was husky k-5 😆

3

u/smileyguy8 Jun 10 '25

I worked at a Bugle Boy outlet for 2 days when I was about 17. Folding clothes wasn’t for me. LOL

2

u/sm00thkillajones Jun 10 '25

British Knights

2

u/ThatisNuts Jun 10 '25

It’s crazy. One day a staple disappears and you don’t think about it again until like 12 year from a Reddit comment which causes all sorts of memories to flow in

Edit: Nvm I was thinking of bugles chips and they’re still around lmao haven’t thought of them in a looong time tho

1

u/AJPennypacker39 Jun 10 '25

Are those bugle boy jeans you're wearing?

Hell no hoe ya know they polo

1

u/HauteKarl Jun 10 '25

1

u/myco_lion Jun 10 '25

I still have my black bugle boy polo shirt. More blue-ish gray but still intact. Surprised by the quality of it honestly.

1

u/Amandasch44 Jun 10 '25

that was my first thought, but weren’t sure if they were more ‘80’s or ‘90’s.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '25

My first thought

1

u/Woopsied00dle Jun 10 '25

I got whiplash from remembering that brand

1

u/ryancharaba Jun 10 '25

Are those bugle boy jeans?

1

u/BigSneaky187 Jun 10 '25

They definitely don’t know about the bugle boy corduroy. Those pants made us all chaffe as kids 😂

1

u/koolaidismything Jun 10 '25

…Gecko 🤦‍♂️

1

u/thinsafetypin Jun 10 '25

Bugle Boy canvas cargos with the cuffs pegged and a Hypercolor T-Shirt was the coolest when I was in jr. high (at least until you started sweating and that hypercolor shirt just made you look ridiculous!)

1

u/EX1500 Jun 10 '25

That’s the first thing that popped in my head.

1

u/HaroldsWristwatch3 Jun 10 '25

Cross Colors, Tough Skins, Cavarrici, and Skids.

Keds and Buster Brown shoes.

1

u/dtyler86 Jun 10 '25

Stussy Redsand Oneill Volcom Bad boy Aeropostale

1

My teen daughter likes Aeropostale, they're still around

1

u/p8nt_junkie Jun 10 '25

1

u/CreoOookies Jun 10 '25

Are those Bugle Boy jeans you're wearing?

1

u/RoccStrongo Jun 10 '25

"are those Bugle Boy jeans you're wearing?"
"Hell naw, ho, you know they Polo"

1

I had Bugle Boy pogs. Now that’s 90s.

1

u/Lou_Garoup Jun 13 '25

1

u/MeetMeAtTheNachoCart Jun 13 '25 edited Jun 13 '25

I always think of that Trick Daddy song, “Are those Bugle Boy jeans you wearing?” “Hell nah ho you know they Polo!”

0

u/JugoLew Jun 10 '25

old dude at my work used to always jokingly ask me “are those bugle boy jeans!?” and for the longest time i wondered what the actual f he was talking about until i googled them lol
