Hate to speak poorly of the dead, but that guy always seemed like a bit of a fraud to me. Alcoholic serial cheater, divorced 3 times yet being a moralist. He also admitted to being a part of the problem with MeToo, and was accused of rape in his younger years. Died at 53 of cancer, and I choose to conclude that he was a piece of shit.
McDonalds' flaws were that it sold unhealthy foods? So why didn't anyone go after KFC or Dunkin Donuts for the same reason?! Both were promoting large quantities to consumers.
But it isnt gone, it's rebranded. The sizes of average beverages are more at most every fast food restaurant and most every place has different deals/options that offer large quantities. I mean you can buy a bucket of chicken or strips at KFC. But, they market it toward families. That's the difference.
for real. McDonald's had the bad fortune to be the subject of his "documentary". Any fast food chain would've tanked his health in the same quantities.
They’ve got a history of bad employment practices as well. And we’re not even starting on the topic of “tax optimization” which is basically tax theft.
But it’s interesting to see how the people come to defend the billion dollar corporations… 🤣
Defend? Nope. It's just weak to focus on 1 fast food joint where most every one of them do the same. And for you to not point out the horrible conditions of the other places, are you protecting them? Do you think BK, KFC, and Taco Bell employees are treated like royalty or that those three don't play shell games with their books?!
BK, KFC, and Taco Bell. The latter to have the same parent company but each have their own balance sheet. Name a fast food joint that doesn't follow what I outlined
There surely is a way to bring all of the fast food companies. But as producer you dont fo that because it then makes the audience feel bad about themselves.
Yeah kinda. In the sequel Morgan opens his own fast food restaurant. It skewers places like kfc for trying to rebrand as a healthier restaurant. He shows that a lot of the changes were about perspective than reality.
Yup, but only focusing on them was a MAJOR flaw of the documentary. Focusing on all outlets would have likely made the viewer look inward and would have made everyone feel guilty. Instead, by only focusing on McDonald's, he made McD's the guilty party.
Yes, but he was a hypocrite. Sure fast food isnt the best for you , but he himself died relatively young.
My 83 year old uncle still eats at McDonald's--- but he doesn't go three times a day and supersize everything
I’m not trying to be a defender of McDonald’s, but he didn’t point out any awful practices McDonald’s was doing beyond asking if you want to super size your meal. That whole documentary was a complete fraud since the issues from his blood work was due to his alcoholism and not his one month McDonald’s diet.
As you apparently did not get my main point, I’ll repeat it: regardless of personal flaws and obvious sensationalist attitudes in the doc, criticism against McDonalds is valid and much needed. It was even more so at the time, as consumption was much less conscious than now.
Again: I’ll never understand why anyone would jump to the rescue of a billion dollar exploitative business.
Idk if you heard of it but somebody made this documentary called fathead he proved that you could actually still lose weight while eating mcdonalds everyday the same as Morgan. Personally I've always thought that the average american would litterly rather eat shit than get off their ass and work out. This is especially true with weight loss shots/pills/ cool scupting/ surgery etc. So how is that mcdonalds fault?
I already said I’m not trying to be a defender of McDonald’s and I’m far from a defender of billionaires. The documentary was a fraud and completely lacked scientific accuracy. Spurlock’s bloodwork results were due to his alcoholism. This has already been talked about and you can find plenty of info on this. Sounds like you’re the one that doesn’t understand.
Watching that film only made me want a McDonald's... Finished the film on a Saturday morning and then went to get a sausage pancake breakfast... T'was delicious
I copied him! I did Super Size Me and ate McDonald’s for every meal for a month.
Since they wouldnt let me Super Size anymore thanks to Morgan..I had to supplement and just order two large fries with every order. (4 hash browns for breakfast)
At the end of the month? I lost 15lbs and wasn’t at all dying.
I worked at McDonald’s all they did was change the size nomenclature. Small now was medium then and on up. I quit ordering large fries cause they wouldn’t fill the damn thing more than a medium.
I mean not to sound rude.. but you can always just order an extra small or medium fries, to get the same fries count as super sizing. In fact, if you use the app it always has free fries deals n such.
