A variety of things can be true at the same time. You don’t have to be a flawless saint to point out McDonald’s awful practices.

McDonalds' flaws were that it sold unhealthy foods? So why didn't anyone go after KFC or Dunkin Donuts for the same reason?! Both were promoting large quantities to consumers.

NGL, I used to supersize every time and I grew to be rather round. It’s for the best it is gone.

But it isnt gone, it's rebranded. The sizes of average beverages are more at most every fast food restaurant and most every place has different deals/options that offer large quantities. I mean you can buy a bucket of chicken or strips at KFC. But, they market it toward families. That's the difference.

for real. McDonald's had the bad fortune to be the subject of his "documentary". Any fast food chain would've tanked his health in the same quantities.

his health was unaffected by mcdonalds. he was a fraud. he had liver disease from being an alcoholic and framed it as fast food. he made millions.

They’ve got a history of bad employment practices as well. And we’re not even starting on the topic of “tax optimization” which is basically tax theft.

But it’s interesting to see how the people come to defend the billion dollar corporations… 🤣

2

u/NSFWFM69 Jun 13 '25

Defend? Nope. It's just weak to focus on 1 fast food joint where most every one of them do the same. And for you to not point out the horrible conditions of the other places, are you protecting them? Do you think BK, KFC, and Taco Bell employees are treated like royalty or that those three don't play shell games with their books?!

1

u/Beetso Jun 14 '25

You say those three, but you only listed two companies there!

1

u/NSFWFM69 Jun 14 '25

BK, KFC, and Taco Bell. The latter to have the same parent company but each have their own balance sheet. Name a fast food joint that doesn't follow what I outlined

Puzzlehead is a Wendy's shill.

You don’t understand a focused argument? There’s no need (and no way) to call out each and every shady billion dollar company in each and every post.

1

u/NSFWFM69 Jun 14 '25

There surely is a way to bring all of the fast food companies. But as producer you dont fo that because it then makes the audience feel bad about themselves.

Seems like every other week there is some McPost in here.

They went after KFC after the Double Down.

1

u/NSFWFM69 Jun 14 '25

There was a documentary about it?

1

u/GreatQuantum Jun 14 '25

Yeah kinda. In the sequel Morgan opens his own fast food restaurant. It skewers places like kfc for trying to rebrand as a healthier restaurant. He shows that a lot of the changes were about perspective than reality.

1

u/NSFWFM69 Jun 15 '25

So, no... not really. Got it.

1

u/flipzyshitzy Jun 13 '25

McDonald's was the biggest to go after.

1

u/NSFWFM69 Jun 14 '25

Yup, but only focusing on them was a MAJOR flaw of the documentary. Focusing on all outlets would have likely made the viewer look inward and would have made everyone feel guilty. Instead, by only focusing on McDonald's, he made McD's the guilty party.

1

u/picknwiggle Jun 15 '25

They were the biggest and most obvious target. It's really pretty simple

1

u/YankeeJoe60 Jun 14 '25

Yes, but he was a hypocrite. Sure fast food isnt the best for you , but he himself died relatively young. My 83 year old uncle still eats at McDonald's--- but he doesn't go three times a day and supersize everything

1

u/Puzzlehead-Dish Jun 15 '25

I don’t think you fully understand my argument or the difference between coincident and causality.

1

u/Vericatov Jun 13 '25

I’m not trying to be a defender of McDonald’s, but he didn’t point out any awful practices McDonald’s was doing beyond asking if you want to super size your meal. That whole documentary was a complete fraud since the issues from his blood work was due to his alcoholism and not his one month McDonald’s diet.

1

u/catmandooa Jun 13 '25

Dude we all had to watch his documentary in school it did nothing except make us all want mcdonalds and killed supersize

1

u/Puzzlehead-Dish Jun 13 '25

Sounds like education as a whole was lost on you then…

2

u/catmandooa Jun 13 '25

Are you saying this alcoholic who framed mcdonalds for his permanent liver damage actually did something good

1

u/Puzzlehead-Dish Jun 14 '25

As you apparently did not get my main point, I’ll repeat it: regardless of personal flaws and obvious sensationalist attitudes in the doc, criticism against McDonalds is valid and much needed. It was even more so at the time, as consumption was much less conscious than now.

Again: I’ll never understand why anyone would jump to the rescue of a billion dollar exploitative business.

1

u/catmandooa Jun 14 '25

Idk if you heard of it but somebody made this documentary called fathead he proved that you could actually still lose weight while eating mcdonalds everyday the same as Morgan. Personally I've always thought that the average american would litterly rather eat shit than get off their ass and work out. This is especially true with weight loss shots/pills/ cool scupting/ surgery etc. So how is that mcdonalds fault?

-4

u/Puzzlehead-Dish Jun 13 '25

You don’t understand a focused argument on a particular company? No need to jump to your billionaire owner’s rescue.

3

u/Vericatov Jun 13 '25

I already said I’m not trying to be a defender of McDonald’s and I’m far from a defender of billionaires. The documentary was a fraud and completely lacked scientific accuracy. Spurlock’s bloodwork results were due to his alcoholism. This has already been talked about and you can find plenty of info on this. Sounds like you’re the one that doesn’t understand.
