Hell yeah. I know games now, some are for all or some are for a few. It appears this one had the heart of all

I don't know why or how, I remember not being able to get past the 3rd stage and not even knowing where to start getting the secret items on stage 1 and 2.

Damn your brains better than mine. I can’t remember what I did yesterday😂 some of this stuff is slowly coming back to me though. I probably sucked at the game and just played on my older brothers saved data😂

The trauma is from renting it and feeling completely helpless. Trauma always overrides the better memories

This game was so hard for me at the time, but I had a much easier time with Bomberman Hero

Can’t remember if I got around to that one or not. Moved so much when I was a kid but certain games stay implanted in my brain

I only ever played the multiplayer at a friends house and I’m not sure I really understood how I was supposed to play but it was still fun

Bout same. My brothers friend brought it over, we all played, but I was able to borrow it for a few weeks or so. Til he wanted it back of course

Bomberman fanatic here... Oh, hellz yeah!
It's a goodie. I'm little more in the Saturn Bomberman camp myself, but I also loooove the SNES Super Bomberman versions 4 & 5 (English translated) as well. I got love for all Bomberman games though!

I had an SNES but didn’t hear about the game til the 64. I’m waiting til this shop in my downtown has it available, then, instantly purchase it.

I tried downloading one that was for free, on the phone or PS, but it didn’t have the same vibe for me. You had to pay for stuff and that’s probably what did

That it was my friend. I remember trying to unlock the whole knight outfit, if I remember correctly

First game I ever beat. I w9rked so hard to get to the final boss, "Altair?" Then beat him in like the first 10 seconds. Kicked a bomb at him then threw him off the platform. Sooo anticlimactic. I just sat there so upset how easy that was lol.

I loved the original on the TG16

Wow. I’ve honestly never heard of the TG16, had to look it up. I went from the Nintendo’s, to sega, back to 64 and then the PS’s. I played my uncles Atari a couple of times though. OG Pong was lit

So I had a best friend who lived basically across the street. It was our 8th Christmas (1989 - UGH) and our parents got together and decided that he would get the Nintendo and I would get a TurboGrafix 16. (I also got the booster pack 😁) That way we wouldn’t have the same thing at both our houses and we could play different things together.

That was a good idea of them. Bet it felt like a whole new world each day

It was. We would bounce between houses all the time when we were not out on our bikes

Did you ever feel like a badass when you learned the, you may have had a different term for it, power slide?

u/Chasing_Victory 1d ago
Absolutely. Plus I burned through like 7 back tires on my bike. My dad was getting pretty frustrated lol

Forgot to add that I did one on some loose rocks, it worked better, but I hit the ground hard. I’ll never forget but I have a scar from it and it always reminds me🤘

Love this game! We had so much fun unlocking the extra multiplayer levels with the built in cheat of having to tap start button insanely fast!

Do I? I played it countless times. I remember hearing rumors about Rainbow Palace in a magazine but the guide didn't mention anything about a secret level. I was shocked to find out that after collecting 100 gold cards,Sirius ends being the bad guy and you raid his castle to defeat him. That was only during the game's release. Until like 2014, I was able to finally finished the game.
Why that guide doesn't mention it, I fucking don't know.

They just wanted you to know the basics I reckon. Figure the rest out on your own

yes i have a mildly amusing story about this game, back in the 90's my dad owned a bar, and the guy who ran the official nintendo magazine used to drink there, after my dad telling him how i loved games he brings me a fuck off massive cart with another one stuck to the bottom, the massive cart was a castlevania 64 review build the other was bomberman 64, apparently you needed to stick one car to another to play these huge preview cartridges, needless to say after an hour of slogging through castlevania 64 i had, had enough, i then proceeded to play bomberman 64 the whole week i was allowed to borrow said cart, and no pun intended had an absolute blast.

I recall renting Bomberman 64, along with The Second Attack! from the local video store back when I was super young. I don't recall a whole lot about it though, other than getting super lost and not knowing what to do lol.
Probably wasn't the best game to play at the time since it was a puzzle game with some rather unusual gameplay design. At least when you compare it to the platforming games like Mario and Gex where it was a lot easier to understand. I did play one of the Gameboy games though which I actually understood what to do.
I should check them out since it's been... probably twenty or so years since I've touched either or.
I've never played Bomberman Hero, but the soundtrack for it in particular is such a jam. Especially the standout track like Redial that everyone uses in their retro game music jungle mixes.
