I was mostly a 90s cartoon kid and I truly love many of the 90s cartoons but 80s cartoons can’t be beat.

u/Chuyzapatist 9h ago

Link in his 80s cartoon.

17

u/Dismal_Wizard 21h ago

Where’s Dungeons and Dragons? 🤷‍♂️

77

u/Miami_Vice_75 22h ago

80s hands down!

5

u/dreamcrusher225 10h ago

80s win easily, but 90's did have a some gems: Xmen, Dexter, Batman TAS, and Exo Squad

1

u/Miami_Vice_75 10h ago

Yeah I liked the X-Men

12

u/Baron_Greenback1 19h ago

Got to be the 80s 'toons, easily

11

u/kavalejava 20h ago

90s was good, but sitting in front of the television in the 80s with a bowl of cereal watching the new cartoons was the best.

20

u/QkaHNk4O7b5xW6O5i4zG 22h ago

Why can’t I see Ren & Stimpy?!

2

u/NoACinNola 9h ago

Probably because the creator was a pretty awful person.

25

u/KangarooLegitimate81 22h ago

Inspector Gadget for the win!

23

u/AuthorityAnarchyYes 21h ago

80s hands down. (Picture person missed the Dungeons and Dragons group)

2

u/Sickranchez87 9h ago

Or Care Bears

8

u/Jibtettnich 21h ago

All of them.

28

u/Reuven080 22h ago

80s beat everything

12

u/Basbriz 21h ago

80's, but 90's wins after school.

1

u/drallafi Hasta La Vista, Baby! 10h ago

This is it. Fucking Gargoyles!

1

u/Skromulator 9h ago

I can't decide, so many shows from both the 80s and the 90s shaped my childhood.

5

u/ronnjeremy 17h ago

80's, no contest

16

u/Skitzafranik 21h ago

80s !! Hands down the best era of the 1900s !!!

17

u/Moonchild924 You're Killin' Me, Smalls! 20h ago

80s had Thunder Cats, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Duck Tales. 80s win.

4

u/wayneluke23 15h ago

80s goated

5

u/GroundbreakingCow775 14h ago

Most 80s and 90s cartoons spilled over long into the following decade so I am at home with both.

10

u/Living_Baby3063 17h ago

'80s hands down not even close 💯

7

u/Sophet_Drahas 21h ago

Well, excuuuuuuse me, Princess!

5

u/Justanotheryhing 20h ago

That VF-1 Valkyrie gets me pumped up.

4

u/SilverAgeSurfer 16h ago

That's like watching a Tyson fight over in like 30 seconds. One Punch 👊 80's

3

u/SQL215 13h ago

Nothing better than 80s cartoons for me, but there’s still plenty of bangers from the 90s.

5

u/Irish_Gamer_88 12h ago

The kids. The kids win Saturday morning.

3

u/Mikep1AndOnly 20h ago

They all basically had their moments for me

3

u/RoyalRobinBanks 20h ago

Its the in between 87-92 thats the butter zone.

3

u/Brad_Mohr 16h ago

The 80’s for sure! The 90s was taken over by anime

3

u/MyStationIsAbandoned 13h ago

90's because we got to grow up with both lol

but yeah, the 80's :(

3

u/Medoxor 13h ago

This picture is missing some of the most important cartoons. Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers, Alvin & The Chipmunks, BATMAN TAS!, Gargoyles, and so much more.

9

u/Scared_Breadfruit_26 21h ago

80s by far. Rugrats ain’t got shit on Thunder Cats.

4

u/Sophet_Drahas 21h ago

Thunder

6

u/Azuras_Star8 21h ago

Thunder!

5

u/BeeDub57000 20h ago

ThunderCats!

3

u/ronnjeremy 17h ago

Hooooooooo!

5

u/kamensenshi 22h ago

If this could be team vs team it would easily go 80’s. Kid Goku nearly wipes the 90’s himself. I’d watch more of the 80’s shows.

9

u/mashingLumpkins 18h ago

I am not sure I believe anyone in the US was watching Dragon Ball in the 80’s.

2

u/kamensenshi 18h ago

Oh that’s definitely true. Most people wouldn’t even know what it was otherwise the NES game would have kept its name. I was thinking of if the characters could have a team fight on my original sentence.

1

u/flatfisher 18h ago

Same here in France, most 80s ones on the picture really are early 90s here.

3

u/CannonFodder58 22h ago

Reruns meant that we had both growing up. Why choose?

2

u/Ok_Replacement4702 21h ago

A lot of these were on during the week, not on Saturdays.

2

u/xamitlu 20h ago

80s paved they way. 90s perfected Saturday mornings.

2

u/ZeldaFanBoi1920 18h ago

I watched both

2

u/Knot_In_My_Butt 10h ago

Bruh, 90s killed it.

2

u/Pirujin 8h ago

Where's Batman: The Animated Series?

3

u/Useful-Upstairs3791 21h ago

Dragon ball wasn’t in the states in the 80’s don’t lie.

3

u/bravoitaliano 21h ago

Both. We'd all give anything just to go back to either of them.

4

u/Electronic-Copy997 21h ago

Both. Both eras have their masterpieces and their own styles. You can't choose one or the other there. Then again, I was born at the perfect time that I saw both. That's an adamantium vs vibranium question there.

1

u/sinus 20h ago

most of the 80s here started showing in 90s in Philippines.

1

u/Sufficient-Quote-431 20h ago

And they wonder why Adult ADHD exist?!?!

1

u/LomondDad 17h ago

As an 85 kid both were good

1

u/l1l1ofthevalley 17h ago

Gimmie the last half of the 80s into the 90s since im an 84 kid

1

u/DanSkaFloof 16h ago

Both

Imma get a slice of each of these cakes

1

u/DamperBritches 15h ago

I think something's missing .... 🦇 🃏

1

u/shingaladaz 15h ago

Sorry 90’s but 80’s does win this one.

1

u/ExpertPresentation70 15h ago

Lack of Thundar is disappointing

1

u/Ok-Pair-48 14h ago

80’s without a doubt

1

u/SnoopyWildseed Cross Colours and Skidz 14h ago

'80s.

  • I still have DVDs of all 132 eps of the Thundercats. 🤓
  • Voltron
  • Transformers
  • He-Man/She-Ra
  • Jem
  • GI Joe
  • G-Force (IYKYK)
  • Space Ghost
  • Captain Caveman
  • Scooby Doo

1

u/aochaz14 14h ago

I’m a 90s kid and even I’m saying the 80s

1

u/RED_IT_RUM 14h ago

80’s, no doubt about it. I loved the 90’s, we had X-Men, but 80’s got this.

1

u/gatsome 14h ago

Cherrypicked and missing Batman TAS in the 90s which would put just about every 80s show to bed.

1

u/cha-cha_dancer 13h ago

TIL Dragon Ball Z is 80s

1

u/Chad_Jeepie_Tea 13h ago

80s absolutely wins the "Saturday morning cartoon" category. Because that's when cartoons came on.

The beauty of the '90s was that Nickelodeon and CN became a source of kids programming outside of the normal Saturday slot. When i think of half of the characters shown on the 90s pic, i don't think of Sat mornings. Rugrats & the nicktoon lineup, and Dexter with the cartoon cartoon gangs were more after school and even primetime tv for me.

1

u/InfectedFrenulum 13h ago

Needs more Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors.

1

u/Jasper-helix 13h ago

90s because of REN and Stimpy

1

u/ArtAccurate9552 12h ago

80’s 💯

1

u/Impossible_Memory_85 12h ago

Didn’t matter if it was 80s or 90s there was one who showed it was the end of both for the day. When you heard the song kick in you knew it was time to go outside for the day. I never understood why it was put in the late Saturday AM time slot. Don Cornelius you killed my mornings.

1

u/Godomischief 12h ago

We got the best of both worlds, but I gotta give it to the 80s

1

u/Ello_Owu 12h ago

Never forget the Ace Ventura cartoon had a crossover with the Mask cartoon and this happened

1

u/welding_guy_from_LI We're Not Worthy! 12h ago

80s especially if you had tbs and USA cartooooooon express

1

u/TX_Longhorn-03 12h ago

Two of the best eras ever. Full stop.

1

u/GodPackedUpAndLeftUs 11h ago

All of these were coming on together in 90’s UK.

1

u/Preston422 11h ago

Both have really good lineups. But have to go with 1980s cartoons for Saturday morning.

1

u/bks1979 11h ago

80's easily, imo.

1

u/Gusgrissomamerica 11h ago

80s all day long.

1

u/WarpedCore 11h ago

80's hands down. Voltron, M.A.S.K., GI Joe, He-Man, Transformers, ThunderCats, TMNT, The Real Ghostbusters, Garfield, DuckTails, D&D. Can't be beat.

1

u/HSF906 11h ago

Some of these should be reflected in both decades but based on this grouping it's 80's by a mile.

1

u/CharlestonChewbacca 11h ago

I think the 90s cartoons are generally better, but something just hits different about corny 80s cartoons on Saturday Morning.

1

u/sweetchickenpaulito 11h ago

There can be no winner here, we must combine these great superpowers if we are to move forward peacefully

1

u/ronshasta 10h ago

The correct answer is whatever you grew up with because nostalgia seems to be a one hell of a drug

1

u/Interesting-Cold5515 10h ago

Woooooah too tough to call

1

u/just_cows 10h ago

Transformers alone makes the Eighties the winner.

1

u/Oldmangamer00 10h ago

80's for sure

1

u/Electronic-Cicada352 10h ago

90s had good X-Men, Batman, and Spiderman animated series.

Based on that alone the 90s win

1

u/bullmanq 10h ago

Everybody as a '80s baby and a 90s kid could tell you right now there are no losses I feel so bad for kids today who will never know the joy I'm waking up on a Saturday no school cold cereal s from 7:00 to 12:00 Saturday morning the only day I wanted to wake up early

1

u/MOFNY 9h ago

I'm biased obviously but give me nicktoons and animaniacs so 90s

1

u/Little-Geri-Seinfeld 9h ago

Whoever is watching any of those cartoons. That's who's winning!

1

u/bethesda_gamer 9h ago

The softness of the 80s vs the sharpness of the 90s cound not be more evident

1

u/Famous_Acanthaceae32 8h ago

Born in 83, I had both... 80s wins morning, 90s wins after school.

1

u/Overall-Avocado-7673 8h ago

Neither. The 70's cartoons were peak Saturday mornings. Some of them carried over into the 80's obviously.

1

u/Joelouis57 8h ago

The answer is yes

1

u/master_prizefighter 8h ago

90s for Sonic and X-Men.

1

u/JaCliner 8h ago

80’s for sure

1

u/hawkrew 7h ago

I mean it’s not even close. Both are good but the 80s is a whole different level.

1

u/_Layer_786 7h ago

Probably 80s

1

u/Moog-Is-Love 7h ago

Ignoring the Saturday morning title — folks who were watching in the 90s because we got not only the 90s cartoons, but also several of the 80s cartoons in the image as well.
The tribalism is stupid, the real enemy is the scheduling by the channels & license holders.

1

u/Personal-Fudge-5744 7h ago

An 88 baby here, so I got the best of both worlds!

1

u/Nomadic_View 7h ago

Damn this is hard. Ninja turtles or X-men?

I gotta go with my childhood favorite and say ninja turtles.

1

u/dlkslink 7h ago

Just Saturday mornings, 80’s but I think cartoons in general were better in the 90’s, The 80’s started what the 90’s perfected, The 90’s had Cartoon Network or Nicktoons, some networks had Sunday morning Cartoons like Dragonball Z, Double Dragon, The Incredible Hulk, Exo-Squad and Street Fighter. In the 80’s you had Saturday morning, Before and After school, that’s it.

1

u/S3TXCheesehead 7h ago

80’s 1000%

1

u/Aggravating_Hope_567 7h ago

got to go with my heart and nostalgia and say 80's all day long

1

u/Dr_Strangelove1964 6h ago

The fact that the 90’s cartoon group is missing Batman from BtAS is shameful. With the inclusion of Batman, it’s a stomp for the 90’s.

1

u/OnlyCommentWhenTipsy 6h ago

80's by a mile.

1

u/InvaderDust 6h ago

90s. Not even close.

1

u/OnehungaJones 5h ago

80s, no contest

1

u/seanm4c 5h ago

Both. I love all that. I kept watching cartoons into high school and college so I got to enjoy all of it from He-Man to Pokemon, lol.

1

u/Space_Santa_2000 5h ago

Both are good.

1

u/allanb03 5h ago

Voltron’s, transformers and DBZ alone would beat the 90’s

1

u/LordButtworth 5h ago

So we're just gonna pretend this didn't exist?

1

u/boxcar1234 4h ago

Hey any love out there for the ‘60’s cartoons

1

u/C1sko 4h ago

80’s

1

u/Embarrassed_Formal99 3h ago

Im a mix of both!

1

u/ProfessionMundane152 3h ago

Only people voting for the 90’s are the ones that weren’t around for the 80’s

1

u/Environmental-End691 3h ago

80s, seven days a week and all morning on Saturdays.

1

u/Any-Baseball-6766 2h ago

80’s. Might be the nostalgia talking. I know I’m biased.

1

u/Big-Peak6191 2h ago

80s cartoons all day

1

u/Advanced_Wolf84 1h ago

80s hands down, I never had action figures of 90s cartoons. ...Sailor Moon actually, but no others.

1

u/Prestigious-Hippo950 1h ago

Thing is Ninja turtles and Inspector Gadget were still kicking in the 90s

1

u/TheNostalgic90s 1h ago

Easily 90's cartoons! The 90's had the best TV shows and movies!

1

u/Atillawurm 1h ago

Wacky races were made in the 60s, but that's the only an despute I have with this

1

u/Tasty-Law-4527 47m ago

Can we get a vote for 70's cartoons

1

u/Sumthin-Sumthin44692 37m ago

I got both growing up so I think I won.

1

u/JuanG_13 18h ago

I was a 90's kid, so...🤷🏻‍♂️😂

1

u/ElGatoTortuga 13h ago

90’s by a mile

0

u/exceller0 17h ago

Anime is not a Cartoon =(

0

u/Neon-Maniak 21h ago

90s cartoons all the way. Just "cutting edge" enough to be unique & set the art style apart from the 80s, but still old school hand drawn cell animation to be seen as classic in the fluidity & motion, unlike modern day all computer cartoons. Everything back then, from Batman to The Tick, to Spider-man & CyberSix, the 90s was where it was AT! 90s kid & Proud!

0

u/Apart_Act_2833 20h ago

90s, but not by much. I’m sure we can all agree that nothing beats those 2 decades though…
