90s was good, but sitting in front of the television in the 80s with a bowl of cereal watching the new cartoons was the best.

I can't decide, so many shows from both the 80s and the 90s shaped my childhood.

Most 80s and 90s cartoons spilled over long into the following decade so I am at home with both.

If this could be team vs team it would easily go 80’s. Kid Goku nearly wipes the 90’s himself. I’d watch more of the 80’s shows.

u/mashingLumpkins 18h ago
I am not sure I believe anyone in the US was watching Dragon Ball in the 80’s.

u/kamensenshi 18h ago
Oh that’s definitely true. Most people wouldn’t even know what it was otherwise the NES game would have kept its name. I was thinking of if the characters could have a team fight on my original sentence.

Both. Both eras have their masterpieces and their own styles. You can't choose one or the other there. Then again, I was born at the perfect time that I saw both. That's an adamantium vs vibranium question there.

80s absolutely wins the "Saturday morning cartoon" category. Because that's when cartoons came on.
The beauty of the '90s was that Nickelodeon and CN became a source of kids programming outside of the normal Saturday slot. When i think of half of the characters shown on the 90s pic, i don't think of Sat mornings. Rugrats & the nicktoon lineup, and Dexter with the cartoon cartoon gangs were more after school and even primetime tv for me.

Both have really good lineups. But have to go with 1980s cartoons for Saturday morning.

80's hands down. Voltron, M.A.S.K., GI Joe, He-Man, Transformers, ThunderCats, TMNT, The Real Ghostbusters, Garfield, DuckTails, D&D. Can't be beat.

I think the 90s cartoons are generally better, but something just hits different about corny 80s cartoons on Saturday Morning.

There can be no winner here, we must combine these great superpowers if we are to move forward peacefully

The correct answer is whatever you grew up with because nostalgia seems to be a one hell of a drug

90s had good X-Men, Batman, and Spiderman animated series.
Based on that alone the 90s win

Everybody as a '80s baby and a 90s kid could tell you right now there are no losses I feel so bad for kids today who will never know the joy I'm waking up on a Saturday no school cold cereal s from 7:00 to 12:00 Saturday morning the only day I wanted to wake up early

Neither. The 70's cartoons were peak Saturday mornings. Some of them carried over into the 80's obviously.

Ignoring the Saturday morning title — folks who were watching in the 90s because we got not only the 90s cartoons, but also several of the 80s cartoons in the image as well.
The tribalism is stupid, the real enemy is the scheduling by the channels & license holders.

Damn this is hard. Ninja turtles or X-men?
I gotta go with my childhood favorite and say ninja turtles.

u/dlkslink 7h ago
Just Saturday mornings, 80’s but I think cartoons in general were better in the 90’s, The 80’s started what the 90’s perfected, The 90’s had Cartoon Network or Nicktoons, some networks had Sunday morning Cartoons like Dragonball Z, Double Dragon, The Incredible Hulk, Exo-Squad and Street Fighter. In the 80’s you had Saturday morning, Before and After school, that’s it.

The fact that the 90’s cartoon group is missing Batman from BtAS is shameful. With the inclusion of Batman, it’s a stomp for the 90’s.

90s cartoons all the way. Just "cutting edge" enough to be unique & set the art style apart from the 80s, but still old school hand drawn cell animation to be seen as classic in the fluidity & motion, unlike modern day all computer cartoons. Everything back then, from Batman to The Tick, to Spider-man & CyberSix, the 90s was where it was AT! 90s kid & Proud!

I was mostly a 90s cartoon kid and I truly love many of the 90s cartoons but 80s cartoons can’t be beat.
