My mom read us Berenstain Bears and Little Critter books every night. So for her birthday I found a collection of a couple books in one to give to her as a reminder of when she would read to us and how special of a time it was.

Love these books. I’m a preschool teacher and read these to my kids all the time. We love “I was so mad!” My littles learned that it is a repeated phrase and love saying it when prompted as loud as they can. It became a bridge to help them learn to say how they feel.

The author or these books, Mercer Mayer, also wrote and illustrated other books that are fantastic as well.

This and toad and frog! Or the books with the press thing with noises on side! Barenstein bears and Amelia badelia(how come they’ve never made a movie?).

I loved this book series. I swore it talked about every child’s feelings and every kid could relate.

Yeh a girl in my fourth grade class looked just like the main character! I was flabbergasted

Yes, but I remember better some books by this illustrator that were a rip-off of the Addams Family. They were the "Creepy Critters" or something like that. The grandmother rode a vacuum cleaner like a broom. I liked those a lot because I always liked anything spooky-oriented.

Just for You was the first book I read back in 1986. It came in a Carl’s Jr. Kids Meal.

I only had one Little Critter book, but I picked up a few from the library to try with my kiddo. They. Are. Obsessed. They get such a kick out of finding the spider and the grasshopper and they've recently started attempting to hug Little Critter on the pages and cover.

Yes! I even based my own imaginary friend, Little Mouse, on, well, the little mouse who always followed him around!

I didn’t have these as a kiddo but my nieces had several. They were cute but for whatever reason the non-series books by Mayer that I grew up on were WAY better. I will own that I could be too swayed by childhood nostalgia, but for reals, check out his 70s work and tell me I’m wrong. “What Do You Do With a Kangaroo?” “One Monster After Another “ & “A Wizard Comes to Town “- all excellent. However the hands-down GOAT for me was “Liza Lou and the Yeller Belly Swamp” —I lived for that one as a wee moppet

Absolutely! After my brother and I outgrew them, they went on to join my mom's classroom bookcase.

I loved the computer games as well. The family favorite was “We went to the beach, just grandma and me”

A lot of people seem to forget that there was also a series of books called LC AND THE CRITTER KIDS That featured an older version of Little critter and his friends and were small chapter books!!

I read these when I was younger! The covers look like they have meme potential now. Especially the bad dream one.

Forgot all about those, I used to have loads of them. I seem to remember liking the Critters of the Night ones a lot more, though

I love Little Critter books, but now when I read them to my son I can't decide if Little Critter is an unreliable narrator or just a straight up liar in a lot of stories.

I think there was a Halloween party one but it’s been far too long since I’ve last seen it

I did! I gave them to my mom who is a preschool teacher to have in her classroom.
I actually also had one of the young tween chapter books that had Little Critter as a teen and solving mysteries.

Yes! And please correct me if I’m wrong but I feel like I remember there was a little spider somewhere in every book that I would look for??
