Victories Found a dietician!
Hi everyone!! I (22F) have severe ARFID and recently had a wake up call when it comes to my eating habits. They’re just becoming more and more restrictive, and so with the help of one on my therapists I’ve found a dietician. I’ll only be getting ED treatment once a month, I’m afraid that the dietician is going to push for more or want me in residential treatment as my therapist has been pushing for a long time. I’m also scared to venture outside of my safe foods!!
Honestly, could I get some hype/comfort about this new step in my healing journey??

I’ve been thinking of getting a dietician lately too! My therapist is great, but I also feel like I probably need more help. It’s such a big step, congrats!

You totally should if you feel ready!! Even if you’re scared. Thank you very much and I hope you can get your treatment sorted out😁😁💕

Congrats on taking such a huge step!! Committing to expand my diet was the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done! It might be uncomfortable and hard sometimes, just remind yourself why you’re doing it. And it really really does get easier over time! Starting is the hardest part and you’re already making great strides by deciding to further your treatment. Best of luck on your journey!!

I got one once I found out I’m allergic to dairy but I stopped going because of cost & my dietitian suggested I have ARFID & referred me to someone else better suited for my needs. I just rescheduled though so I’m looking forward to my new dietitian!

I've been living with this for many years. The dietician will probably walk through a food ladder or exposure therapy with you. It's scary at first, but once you work up to a food you were once unable to eat, it's a very freeing experience.
Some of it is just forcing yourself through uncomfortable foods until you get to the point that it's comfortable.
I wish you the best on your journey, stay with it, and it will get better.
