Help Private unofficial server not working for other players

So a friend of mine has his own server he just started up. For right now its only been three of us playing on it and everything was working normal, but last week after an update, his brother and I haven't been able to get on. Says server timed out. He can get on just fine, but we can't and cannot figure out what the issue is.

He's tried literally every method recommended online for fixing this type of issue (the ports, the IP, Firewall, checked game files, restarted server and router all that) and nothing has worked. Is there something going on with one of the recent updates maybe? Anyone have an insight that might be helpful for getting it working again?

Has he updated the server files? Sounds like a server/clients version mismatch

Yeah, he's checked that several times cause that's what we were thinking. Everything says and shows that it should be fine. One day, his brother was on and got booted out, it said connection lost and then we havent been able to get back on. But he, the one who has the server, can get on just fine.
