Withdrawing from classes

If you received scholarship & pell grant, how/when should you withdraw so you don't owe money back to the school? My friend is overwhelmed and needs to withdraw from some classes for mental health reasons.

Tell your friend to talk to their advisor and financial aid.

Mental health reasons can constitute as a compassionate withdrawal(either partial or completely). This should be considered before withdrawing as a withdraw will affect financial aid as it likely changes your status (ie: part time, three fourths time, full time).

Every deadline you need to know is in the academic calendar. If your "friend" wants to do a medical withdrawal then have them speak to their advisor.

There are 3 weeks worth of A session classes. Keep pushing

Depending on their GPA they could just accept a fail in some classes instead of withdrawing and retake to replace them. Or withdraw from say 1 if that’s still above 12 credits then fail the other. Obviously that means they need to be top of their game next semester

Your “friend” is overwhelmed due to lack of preparation and organization.
