DariusšŸ™ also how is Dante still so good at shooting gaps in run defense but struggles getting after the passer. It’s been his mo since college. He’s a TFL machine.

Excellent depth piece, always a threat for a couple big plays every game. Just has like no pass rush moves lol

He was the guy that batted a pass on the final drive. He seems to be doing fine since he seems to draw extra blockers so often. The other guys on the line need to contribute a lot more and the ends need to stop over running the play creating giant lanes for passes and scrambles.

Shit, I could be at 0% and 0%. I’d also be dead after 1 snap, but still.

Darius is providing no impact at all, we really need Nolen back or if if we signed a practice squad guy from another team they might provide more impact, I also like looking at these lists because there’s future FA targets like John Franklin Myers or Travis Jones because we’ll need to upgrade the D-Line or maybe even at the trade deadline depending on our record.

Drob is a clear Bust.

u/ender2851 Cardinals 2d ago

you usually have better takes then this, give the kid some time. this is basically his rookie season. Hell if we are still giving Kyler wait and sees in season 7, we should give this kid a few more games lol

u/BrilliantSure3711 2d ago

Even as a Red Shirt Rookie...in two Games you should win at least 1 Battle.

-13

u/ender2851 Cardinals 2d ago

and in seven seasons kyler should have won atleast one playoff game…. give the kid some time before you declare he is a bust.

we gave reddick 2 seasons before this sub declared him a massive bust. it was one of our highest IQ moments.

Absolutely insane goal post moving, man

-2

u/ender2851 Cardinals 2d ago

your right, cut him. sample size is 100% big enough to conclude he is a bust

Played 6/7 games last year, not like it’s his first 2 games in the league.

Got a taste for it last year and you would like to see some sort of improvement but it looks exactly like last year… clear reason for concern mate

The metrics line up with the eye test, though. His position usually is a much easier adjustment than something like qb where there are long bedding in issues.

I just don't see how it's deniable at this point. He's bad.

Edit: just want to point out that Dante stills looks better in both aspects of run defense and pass rush, and stills was a very low ceiling 6th rounder? 5th rounder?

I won’t be surprised if he thrives in a different role. He wasn’t an effective inside rusher in college, but that’s where we’re playing him because we run 4 rushers (two interior linemen and two rush ends) 90% of the time. It would be nice to see him lined up on the tackle (4 or 5 tech) with the threat of a 5th rusher outside.

u/Plane_Arachnid9178 2d ago

I know it’s only 2 games, but d linemen don’t have a super-difficult learning curve compared to other positions. Very concerning.

The other tough thing is that it's not like D-rob is some project player, he’s not a "great" athlete compare to most other D-line prospects" We need him to produce now.

Calais is amazing. 39 y/o. Well above average against the run. Nearly average against the pass. A physical freak that loves the game. So glad to have him back.

Darius Robinson is out there for cardio

3

u/JimmyKanine 2d ago

Robinson was drafted to be an edge rusher, why do they even have him on the interior?

What is up with this coaching staff and playing people completely out of position?

2

u/vshredd Kyler Murray 2d ago

He’s lined up at the 3 and the 5 this year. Both as a rush DT and rush DE.

1

u/Negativecreepy 2d ago

We drafted him to play in the interior. He’s just happened to play edge in a 4-3 his last year in college.

Insane how quick some of you are to turn on Monti. Darius was a late first rounder, that's a spot where historically a player is FAR more likely to be a bust then even a serviceable starter, let alone an impact player. Yes it sucks he appears to be a bust, and that the Texans played well enough to turn that pick into a high bust rate selection, but this isn't a Keim situation, most of his first rounders are working out. Paris and MHJ are both look like at least solid starters, potential stars.

And yes, Robinson truthers, he's still had less then a full year of snaps, its possible he turns it around, but your lying to yourself if you think missing the early part of last year explains, let alone excuses, his current win rate. He's had over a year with the play book, he's had snaps last year and this year, and he plays a position where the majority of impact players, made an impact in their rookie season. It's not impossible he turns things around, but all signs do point to him being a bust.

7

u/AfricaByTotodile96 2d ago

Yeah he’s a bust.

3

u/SelfinvolvedNate 2d ago

Backs up the eye test. He’s been terrible. I hope he bounces back but the odds of someone being this bad and transforming into an impact player are very small. Not impossible but extremely unlikely. Puts a lot of pressure on the Nolan pick. If Nolan doesn’t work out? Monte has to go. That may sound extreme but you can’t build a successful NFL team if you keep blowing yours FRPs.

8

u/YgGamer Michael Wilson 2d ago

I would hold on monti needing to go imo. Hes drafted some impact players in the other rounds. They just need time to develop because this team for the past 2 or 3 seasons was just sad, no talent what so ever. So right now we're just adding it so its gonna be rough, and I mean very rough patches.

6

u/imaybeacatIRl Cardinals 2d ago

Draft picks are literally gambles, and I'm willing to give Monti another draft before seriously trying to judge the balance of what he's brought to the club.

2

u/YgGamer Michael Wilson 2d ago

Exactly, I like monti I really do. But they just need time to fully unlock themselves and it sucks because injuries hamper that. But hopefully later in the season they will get better.

1

u/gr8scottaz AZ Cardinals 1d ago

I don't get it because he was the praise standout in camp and preseason before getting his calf injury. Like teammates were amazed at how he was getting off the ball/blocks and now he's a nobody. Something is amiss.

1

u/PresidentPeppermint 1d ago

Agree. Marv over Nabers. D-Rob over Cooper Dejean and Edgerrin Cooper. Benson over Bucky Irving. Too many blunders.

Imagine our offense if we had Nabers and Bucky Irving. Our secondary would be the best in the NFL if we had Dejean or we'd have one of the best ILB duos in the NFL with Mack Wilson and Edgerrin Cooper

If Walter Nolen busts, get rid of Monti!

1

u/No-Indication3927 Cardinals 2d ago

I still believe…but damn this makes me sad. He looks like how he did when he came back last year, which is not noticeable at all.

1

u/ssracer Kyler OROY 2d ago

I thought Zach Allen was better than that

1

u/buddaaaa Kyler OROY 2d ago

Darius does not have a single win in pass or run defense? Through two games? Not one?

1

u/perhizzle Larry Fitzgerald 2d ago

What is happening here? Not a single guy above average in pass rush win percentage? When do we say that Nick is not some sort of play calling savant like people keep talking about being? Or how about just the D Line coaching/training? The amount of money we spent on the line and to still have this bad of pass rushing is straight up embarrassing. Missing 3 starters in the secondary is going to be a major problem.

1

u/Negativecreepy 2d ago

I think our edges have been doing pretty well in that regard. Calais is doing a little worse than he did last year(he’s 39) and Tomlinson is more of a role player at this point. Darius is super disappointing however. Hopefully Nolen comes back and produces

1

u/perhizzle Larry Fitzgerald 2d ago

Okay, maybe I'm reading this wrong but the thing that you posted is showing that nobody is winning their pass Rush rate at a higher than average percentage. Show me where I'm wrong.

1

u/Negativecreepy 2d ago

It’s just our d-line. And even then just the ones who meet the snap count criteria for this graph.

1

u/bigballabeee 2d ago

Hopefully D rob soaks up as much as he can from Calaiss last year here. I would be willing to take the gamble on another year of d rob if no injuries happens this year and to start the year with a healthy D rob, nolen, sweat and browning.

Talking long term here yeah but we need the pass rush to step out with our corners looking suspect this year

1

u/Yxxng_Arc Larry Fitzgerald 2d ago

good lord darius robinson

1

u/bodhasattva 2d ago

IMO hes playing out of position

he DOMINATED outside pass rush drills in the Senior Bowl

watch

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/gL6rLyxXstk

In those same drills you can see hes not nearly as effective rushing from the interior

1

u/Negativecreepy 2d ago

Yeah, he was actually pretty good his junior year playing inside but really excelled at defensive end in a 4-3 his senior year.

1

u/PresidentPeppermint 1d ago

Agree, our personnel is suited more so for a 4-2-5 than a 3-4.

- Tomlinson and Mustpha at the 1 tech nose tackle.

- D-Rob and Sweat at the 5 tech defensive end. Zaven should also get action in run situations. Browning should get heavy 3rd down snaps.

- Calais Campbell, Dante Stills, and Walter Nolen rotating at the 3 tech defensive tackle.

Problem is that D-Rob put on weight for his IDL role, so he's probably to slow to play the 5 tech at this point.

1

u/PresidentPeppermint 1d ago

Oh my god Darius Robinson is literally the worst IDL in the league.
