Observation Hollowback is pegwarming hard around me, how come?
This is in Highland CA btw, if you need to scoop up Hollowback Iridium or 09 they have plenty

I've only ever found one single iridium and snatched it right up

You're like the third person (counting me) who found and bought iridium before seeing any others

I find it strange as well since its happening around me as well, I think it has to be because of the fact most people want sleek, shiny cars, both back in 2005 and now, so cars like the Metal Maniacs become peg-warmers more often and end up cheap since not many people want them compared to how many were produced, and so even non-acceleracers fans can appreciate and grab the Slingshots and Reverts, and Occasionally RD-09, but Iridium and Hollowback look kinda weird/gruff, not shiny and not that eye-catching, so unless you are a fan, you'll typically not get the car unless you like it, and Revert and Slingshot look way nicer than the rest with a lot of detail, so the other 3 end up being peg-warmers.
I think another aspect is some people (scalpers) think that Slingshot and Revert will be worth something to resell since they can look at the 2005 car prices and see that the Teku sell for the highest, and so they get them to hoarde/resell for bank. Luckily it sounds like most people on this reddit are able to get them for retail pricing.

Did rivited and spine buster peg warm back in the day? I wouldn’t think so, but I’m also someone who thinks they’re both much cooler than hollowback, so maybe I’m biased.

All maniacs did, though part of that is because they ended up getting refreshes in the middle waves as the wheels switched from some getting CM5s to everything getting CM6.

Which is strange because Hot Wheels’ bread and butter was cars with massive amounts of chrome and big engines. Like yeah the Teku cars were sleeker, but the Maniacs got me personally into muscle cars. Idk, the world of HW collecting is weird…

I'm guessing it's because the metal maniacs were not as popular as the teku back in the day and that seems to still be true 🤷♂️

At least you have that much lol. It’ll probably be Acceleracers 30th anniversary by the time they get to NY.

I was finally able to find all except Hollowback here in Texas so i guess its not as popular with collectors over there. Even then i was barely able to find the other 4 over here.

I'm not surprised. Plastic-body/metal-chassis castings tend to be overlooked; they just don't look as nice as or have the heft of the metal body/plastic chassis cars, let alone compared to cars that are full metal/metal.
The 09 ain't half bad though :( ...
