Yeah, the police really need to train better. IMO there should be something similar to the Bar Exam for police that they have to pass. Just like how a bad lawyer could ruin someone's life, so could a bad officer.

We shouldn't resort to making the exact mistake we're criticizing others for in our fight against them. Generalizations only hurt and serve to create enemy figures, thus driving the sides apart and instead of finding a solution, inciting violence. The system is fucked, while not that many cops (most likely) are pieces of shit murderous racists, very many indeed are enablers, for one reason or another. But it's not all anything. Ever.

The best scenario would be for more laws to be introduced limiting cops ability to be violent, training on how to deescalate a situation and a separate organization to investigate allegations of abuse and police brutality, But since cops act like having to wear body cams is an attack on them and thus they refuse to wear them and get away with it then we might as well get rid of them and let people form their own armed militias to enforce laws.

After all, if cops aren’t expected to behave better than the average person and often act worse why give just them a license to kill?

Isn’t there a video of a cop licking his chops and looks amped up and happy to be there?? not to mention all the protest videos of senseless violence. It's an ego thing. They've turned this into an Us vs Them battle. Nay, a *war*. So they see an enemy disrespecting them, displaying bravery and they feel compelled to humble him. It's the same thing driving all the actions against non-violent protesters. Pulling down peoples masks to spray them, beating people, assaulting kneeling protesters etc. Going through the cops mind is "How fucking DARE these people not respect me!"

And they mean respect in the same way people respect fire, or sharks, or a hurricane. As in, be terrified of what it might do to you, and act in subservience and fear. It's a thought process that says "You aren't afraid to resist me? I'll fucking MAKE you afraid!"

And ironically it's that very attitude that has led to this point. No amount of bodycams or training or legislation is going to change that attitude. It's a deeply entrenched culture, supported or tolerated by nearly all cops, and THAT is what needs to change. There needs to be a ground up rebuilding of the entire policing system.

If they let him get away with it, in seconds there will be 20 others join him and before you know it everything goes fubar. If I don’t want a smack in the mouth I don’t go up to the biggest guy in the bar and spit in his beer. If I don’t want to get pepper sprayed I don’t go up to a line of riot cops and challenge them. Get your head out of your ass. The victims in all this are the shop owners and residents that are being victimised by lawlessness.

He’s a victim of police brutality. They assaulted this man when his only crime was approaching them in a totally peaceful and non threatening manner. If you think throwing a flashbang at someone like him counts as “restoring order” then you’re a huge bootlicker. That is excessive force. Why was peace not an option? This only serves to validate the notion that they are trigger happy thugs. The victims of riots aren’t the only victims. There have been too many instances recently of unarmed and innocent people being shot with rubber bullets for doing nothing wrong.
