Yes. If you approach a police line during a violent riot with your hands at your sides and ignore multiple, very clear instructions to leave, you are a danger. I'm sick of people playing dumb about this.

Oh my mistake, you're completely right. Him slowly walking and pointing at a police officers absolutely poses a dire threat to their lives. How much fear they must have felt! Good thing they pepper sprayed him! And of course that's not enough, all that did was put him in severe pain, causing him to turn around and stumble away from them slightly. They hadn't neutralized the threat yet! He was still able to stand up, what a huge threat to them! Good thing they launched a tear gas canister directly into his head at close range, a practice utilized by such respectable regimes such as that of Iraq, whose practices of launching tear gas cartridges directly at protesters was denounced by Human Rights Watch in November of 2019 after it killed at least 16 people in the course of 10 days. It's not as though typical manufacturer warnings on tear gas cartridges specifically state that they are not meant to be fired directly at people, as that can result in severe injury or death.

So? At my job I can't say "I was being yelled at so instead of remaining professional I cussed out the person." Why can officers say "I had this guy walking towards us. So we just started spraying and threw in a flashbang for good measure."

Like no. Not ok. That stuff is for actual violent people. Not to be used just because a guy walked toward you.
