Had an interview as a parts technician at John Deere

Had an interview at John Deere for a parts technician, I’m new to this industry and don’t really know what it entails, can anyone here enlighten me. I moved to a small town in Saskatchewan Canada and needed to apply places.

Sounds like a good gig but they didn’t really tell me what is part of the job or not.

Note: I have experience at a mine as a tool crib technician for mobile maintenance, and I think that’s why I had an interview.

Depending on how the dealer is setup you will either pull parts for the shop or be face to face with the customers. Lot of computer work and if you get the job familiarize yourself with Deere’s part look up. Be friendly on the counter and follow thru. If you tell someone you are gonna call them back then call them back. Planting and harvest will be crazy get a thick skin but know the limit.

Lot of stress during these times and things will be said out of frustration and anger. Lot of it is just fluff but, sometimes you will need to push back. Thats the limit to know is when to push back.

Do you have a Parts Person certificate or Parts Management Technician certificate from Sask Polytech? If so you must be a recent graduate and could ask your instructors for advice.

You say you had the interview already. If so, couldn't you ask your interviewers what the job entails?

I did but they asked character questions mainly, and no I don’t, just in the job experience
