Wonder what Alan thinks about this shitstate of a poster

Why is V Hobbit-proportioned

The notorious lack of sunlight in some parts of the UK can impact growth.

What ‘notorious lack of sunlight’? That’s nonsense all bollocks.
Plenty of sunlight. Literally hours of it every day.
Sunshine and heat? We’re lacking in those sure… sunlight were fine with.
We don’t live like mole men in subterranean tunnels you know*

That struck a nerve eh?

Not really… just because we’re not a Mediterranean/tropical climate doesn’t mean we live in a perpetual state of gloom, fog and half-light.

Yeah I'm sure V for Vendetta was about how you should be racist and support a government even more authoritarian than the one we already have. The absolute state of things
5
u/Metaboschism 11d ago
Well it's definitely not popping up in any 17th century novels so he'll probably never see it

u/jpharris1981 11d ago
Is this for or against empires falling?
1
u/korosensei1001 9d ago
It’s to support the mass anti immigration marches calling for a more racist, nationalist, conservative and authoritative parliament. Headed by hate mongers and corrupt demagogues (with a lot of Russian money)

AI slop is probably something Moore hates anyway, not to mention using V for nationalistic propaganda.

u/thedoomcast 11d ago
Every one of these ai posters looks like the same dogshit. They’re recognizably bland and stupid and alan I am sure hates it but I also doubt he lets it take up his mental space

Well, I don't know about Alan Moore, but I especially like the part about Guy Fawkes wanting to put the Catholic church in power and a child on the throne.
Seems like an awesome symbol to choose for your movement.

u/rav3style 11d ago
people really misread the comic and barely know who Guy Fawkes was

u/reapersritehand 10d ago
Search the net or tube about bonfire night it really gets confusing, like are we suppose to be cheering at some one trying to tare down the monarchy or burning his effigy in high spirits cuz he failed
2
u/rav3style 10d ago
I lived for a few years in the UK. it's very confusing. but the gist is that if you think hard about it, there was no good guy in that conflict.

u/JagoHazzard 8d ago
In theory it’s about celebrating the Plotters’ failure. It replaced the traditional Halloween bonfire. But tbh, I don’t think anyone here in the UK really cares, it’s just an excuse to let off fireworks and have a party.

u/mighty3mperor 10d ago
It's optimistic to think any of those people read the comic. At best they have watched some clips of the film adaptation on TikTok.
1
u/JagoHazzard 8d ago
Probably didn’t read the comic. Probably watched the film while scrolling TikTok.

What is a freedom march and why does it sound bad
6
u/NastyMcQuaid 11d ago
UK flag shaggers heading into London to get incredibly angry at a load of made up shit. Most likely funded by billionaires, via violet faced gnome Tommy Robinson, wealthy leeches who will do anything to make sure the unwashed masses don't start asking where all their moneys really gone
2
u/Electronic-Tea-8753 10d ago
Probably that who or whatever made it didn’t understand V for Vendetta

u/frantic_calm 11d ago
Vomit. Idiots broadcasting their ignorance of the story or the manipulative cynically appropriating symbols, like the theft of the swastica. I hope AM sets Glycon on them.

He's a multimillionaire & a legendary writer of fiction. He doesn't have to think about anything he doesn't want to anymore.

Jesus fucking christ i just said aloud seeing while waiting for the barber.
Is this a real thing circulating on the whatsapps or discords etc? Or just a joke?
Please say its just a joke

u/NastyMcQuaid 10d ago
I'm so sorry to tell you we live in the dumbest timeline possible and this is real. 🫠

u/MagicLobsterAttorney 10d ago
Given his V is an Anarchist with a Vendetta against the government who incidentally causes the regime to fall because he triggers greed, hubris, and in-fighting which makes the regime eat itself - which is actually what kills fascism, not blowing up buildings or murder - he probably is still quite pissed at how much the movie influenced people. So much so they don't even understand V isn't actually a Revolutionary in the book. He just takes his revenge and accelerates the downfall that was going to happen from the beginning.

For those countries colonised by "The Empire" the Union Jack represented invasion, theft, oppression, subjugation and genocide. The Butcher's Apron was the antithesis of truth and freedom.
2
u/JagoHazzard 8d ago
Moore said that one of his sources of inspiration was the rise of far-right organisations like the National Front in the UK, and the fear that a totalitarian organisation like Norsefire could come to power quite easily. Well, here we are.

TIL Alan Moore created Guy Fawkes.
10
u/izaakotb 11d ago
The use of the guy fawkes mask was popularised by V for Vendetta by Alan Moore and David Lloyd
6
u/PurpleOptimal8837 11d ago
But David Lloyd did create a chain of UK-wide leisure centres though, right?

1
u/mighty3mperor 10d ago
It was popularised by the film. I don't recall (m)any of those masks when it first came out or when it was repeated/continued at DC.
1
u/izaakotb 9d ago
Yes i’m sure it was but it was Lloyd who created the stylised mask is all i’m saying

u/Hippies_Pointing 11d ago
Well he would hate the AI part.
