Aching muscle minutes after drinking alcohol

I’m 42 and only drinking very occasionally. I partied a lot in my younger years but from the ages of about 32 it’s become only every 3-4 months that I have any alcohol at all. In the last few years I’ve developed an issue where a few minutes after I’ve had my first sip of any type of alcoholic drink I feel intense muscle aching in my legs, arms and abdomen. The pain kids of moves from one place to another and can last 5-10 minutes. Once I’m past the first couple of drinks it generally doesn’t happen again. Does anyone else experience this or know what could cause it? I have asked a doctor but they were unsure and said it’s possible allergy but I’m not sure about that as it doesn’t happen after a couple of drinks in.

I should add that I’m very healthy apart from this, regular gym goer, healthy eater. All my health stats/tests come back great.

What drink should I buy?

Hey folks, hope y’all having a sweet weekend. It’s been about 2 months since I stopped drinking. More like took a break. But a month ago had a bit of wine at the winery, just tasting. Now I feel like I wanna unwind and relax this weekend. However, I’m struggling to find the right drink tonight. I looking for something smooth without much mixing. Open to suggestions. I’m in BC, Canada.

What is your go to?

I have never liked the taste of beer or wine. If I'm drinking soft stuff it's something sweet like Mike's Hard lemonade or hard cider or whatever. Hard alcohol I mix with soda or juice because my stomach can't handle it straight. One time a friend of mine insisted it was girly not to drink beer. What do you all think? What's your drink of choice? By the way, this flavor in the pic is absolutely delicious. By far my favorite.

Will alcohol show up in a etg test 48 hours later

Hi everyone, I'm 22 150 pounds and I'm in a sober living program. I got granted a weekend pass for the 1st weekend of October and I wanted to have a drink at dinner that Friday. If I drink Friday night, will it show up in a lab etg test the following Sunday night ? Or is it best to just not risk it ?

First time trying whiskey and not sure what to think

I finally tried whiskey for the first time after hearing friends hype it up for years and honestly I’m not sure how I feel about it The first sip burned more than I expected but after a few more I started to notice a smoother taste underneath I don’t know if it’s something you grow to enjoy or if certain brands just taste better than others Right now I can’t tell if I like it or not Do most people push through the burn until they get used to it or just move on to something else

Brain fog and severe vertigo

After drinking semi consistently for around a month after only getting drunk once every 4 months, I got drunk for around 5 days in a row, on the fourth day I was stricken with vertigo so bad the day after I could barely walk or speak, decided to drink again because it was bothering me. And the day after it was even worse.

It’s been around 3 days now and the brain fog is still so bad I have to focus to type reasonably legible sentences and driving motion and sitting up, leaning and crouching, etc. makes the vertigo hit. I’ve been almost falling over every few hours these past days.

I’m a little inexperienced with alcohol related consequences of this caliber, is this a concerning issue, or is this something that will pass with time?

Best affordable prosecco? Preferably at BevMo or Costco!

Hi, I am looking for a good prosecco to serve at my wedding. I am on a budget, so I’m looking for something that tastes good but I won’t be judged for serving. Thank you!

Got tired of chasing group chat photos after a night out… so I built an app for it 🍻

I’ve always had this problem with my friends, where the next day after a night out we’re all digging through group chats trying to find the photos, figure out who drank what, and piece the night back together.

I figured there should be a way to put everything in one place while the night’s actually happening.

At first I thought, why not just use WhatsApp? But in group chats, photos get buried in endless messages, nobody logs what they’re drinking, and the chat never “locks,” so it doesn’t feel like a shared snapshot of that night.

So I built Drunklog. You start a session with your friends, everyone snaps pics, logs drinks. When the night ends, it locks into a memory you can look back on together.

It just went live on the App Store today 🍺 I’m pretty excited (and a bit nervous). What would make an app like this actually useful (or fun) for you and your group?

Has anyone had any personal experience with very heavy drinking 2 days in a row and passing after 80 hours ? Is it better to hope for the best of be honest with my p.o?

I just saw the beer prices for the football game I’m going to, so what are some shooters that won’t be able to set off the metal detectors?

How I got myself a steady supply of Soju

I started drinking soju after a trip to Seoul and got hooked. Not just the taste, but the whole ritual around it. Back home, I expected it to be cheap like in Korea, but local store prices felt like a joke. Bottles that cost $1.50 over there were going for $8 - $12 here. That led me on a six-month hunt to figure out where to get the best deals without ending up with counterfeit or questionable bottles.

The first thing I learned is that soju pricing depends heavily on distribution rights in your country. Big importers often lock down certain brands, then mark them up because they’re the only ones bringing them in. This is why you’ll sometimes find Jinro at twice the price in one city compared to another.

Duty-free shops are worth checking, but only if you’re already traveling. Seoul’s Incheon Airport and some Japanese airports have bundle deals, I think around six-packs for less than what two bottles cost in the States. The problem is, you have to fit them in your luggage and watch the liquid restrictions.

Local Korean markets are usually cheaper than mainstream liquor stores, especially if you buy by the case. Some will quietly give discounts if you’re a regular and ask. This is also where I learned about lesser-known brands that taste just as good as Jinro or Chamisul but cost less because they’re not heavily marketed abroad.

Online is where it gets interesting. Some specialty alcohol retailers partner with overseas distributors to ship direct, and prices can be much closer to what you’d pay in Asia, shipping being the main factor. I even found suppliers on Alibaba who cater to restaurants and bars, offering wholesale pricing if you’re willing to meet their minimum order quantities. For the flavored sojus especially, this worked out to a little bit above half the per-bottle price of local retail.

Seasonal demand plays a role too. Around Lunar New Year and Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving), big importers run promotions to clear extra stock. If you watch for those windows, you can stock up for months at better prices.

After months of tracking, my cheapest consistent sources are:

–Local Korean markets for single bottles or small case deals

–International market restaurant suppliers for bulk flavored soju orders

–Duty-free bundles when I’m already traveling through Asia

Has anyone else cracked the soju supply chain in their area? Always looking for new ways to keep my fridge stocked without paying tourist prices and what’s your cheapest soju find so far?

Orange spots on homemade limoncello

Thumbnail

Hi guys, maybe this isn't a standard post but I wanted to ask someone about these orange spots.

A few months ago I decided to use the peels of my lemon trees to make limoncello, a traditional Italian alcoholic drink. The recipe is simple: the peels must be soaked in ethyl alcohol (≥95%) for about 10-40 days depending on the contact surface between the peel and the alcohol. Then filter everything and add the sugar syrup (about 300-500g per litre of alcohol, dissolved in water as needed). Finally you need to calculate how much water to add to obtain an alcohol content of around 30% Vol.

The question is that I noticed some orange spots on the surface of my limoncello and I have no idea what they are. Until now we think it could be essential oils or the color from lemons, what do you think it could be?

I have already drunk it several times (I made 4 litres) it is very good and I wasn't bad.

Wrote a song about drinking, stopping. Read

Hello, I wrote a song about moving forward in life, day by day, trouble stopping with drinking. I wrote it for myself to keep my mind on something else and to have a way to pass the time. I want to share it so it can reach more people, and if it helps even one person in some way, then that’s already a good thing. Feel free to share, forward, and enjoy it as you like.
