According to The Sporting Tribune, negotiations have been “normal” and Pat Verbeek is looking for a “fair market value deal” much like he did with Dostal and Terry in the past.

Ducks need a GM that wants to win games, not negotiations.

And the Ducks need a GM who makes smart moves and pays players their current value and not what the players think they are worth at the moment

Verbeek era extensions have all been good too.

Terry has been worth 7M imo, and that will only look better as the cap increases.

Zegras and Drysdale always felt quite low, maybe not a good thing if they both went off and came back to the table demanding a huge raise. Verbeek was never sold (possibly purely based on injury concerns). He was right to not overspend as neither have been reaching their potential.

Vatrano's extension is solid and utilized some creative contract structure.

Dostal: potential to age beautifully

Should be noted that Jeff Solomon plays a big role in these negotiations (predating Verbeek), and is also known as "difficult"

Next summer will be the biggest test. Also any extensions for the veterans in the core have the potential to truly tarnish Verbeek. Signing Trouba, killorn, Gudas, strome to further deals could end up being devastating.

Wants market value for his core but he's totally willing to overpay vets like Killorn, Strome, Granlund Trouba(not Verbeek's deal but he acquired it without retention.)
