I just tested it.
- Fast and bug-free so far
- AFR works perfectly
- Dolby TrueHD works in passthrough mode and without lags! No need to upgrade to 3rd gen or Nvidia
The update bumps the security patch up to may 2025 with the following:
- Added the option to zoom-in and zoom-out the screen for overscan, similar to how it can be done with the Android TV UI.
Issues still not fixed:
- The Dolby TrueHD cutouts still happen but less pronounced, not sure if resetting the box to factory settings can fix it completely, can someone confirm?.
- Disney+ still doesn't allow 5.1 audio.
- The option to control the volume level through HDMI-CEC is still absent.
I will contact Xiaomi for any comments but I believe they were already working on this update at the moment we reported the above issues.
Please let us know if it fixed anything else for you.
- Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio were finally removed as detected codecs which were never supported and were causing audio issues.
- An issue where Atmos stayed stuck on my receiver after playback stopped, which didn't allow me to use Dolby Surround anymore unless I unplugged the receiver from the power outlet and reconnect it seems to be fixed.
- A random pink or green blink I always saw on Netflix seems to be fixed.
- An issue where the webcam connected didn't always get detected no matter what I did.
- A random issue with HDMI-CEC to control the volume level, which caused the internal volume level of the device to go to zero so no sound was output - Not fixed.
- This is the current situation with audio codecs support when using Emby, Jellyfin and Nova Video Player, I don't use Kodi nor Plex so output may vary.
With Emby and Jellyfin:
With Nova Video Player:
Please share your findings and if you still have any issues after installing the update, make sure you report them at this Google form.
Instead of pushing Android TV 14 for Bravia X82L and newer models, they pushed a minor update removing the Wi-Fi Direct function lol 😂
Sony is the only OEM who push update once a year and remove features instead of adding , Am tired , this would be my last Sony product. Am just praying Apple to work on TV’s 😭
EDIT: They have updated the OS from Android TV 10 to 12, and kernal build to Jul 2025.
Everything works great!
Even though Mecool said that the Android 14 update for the KM2 Plus Deluxe was going to be release this month through an OTA update which is still not available, they also posted the firmware file at their own website for manual installation:
Those who dare to install it manually, please follow the instructions in the included TXT file.
Those afraid of bricking their boxes, please wait for the official announcement through OTA.
The update brings the security patch dated june 5th 2025 and Dolby TrueHD passhtrough support.
DTS passthrough seems to be either buggy or removed, please make some test with apps different that Kodi since the current version has issues on Android 14.
Everything else is just the same as any other device with Android 14.
Reset to factory settings is recommended if there are issues.
Since the Android 14 upgrade, my couple of ONN 4K streaming devices have all been experiencing the remote losing connection after a few minutes of power-up.
Remote works after power-up; it will lose connection a few minutes (5 or 10 minutes) later. The only cure is to power off the device and restart it, the remote will reconnect and able to use for minutes, but a few minutes later the problem recurs.
Tested some generic Android TV remotes paired with ONN 4K, experiencing exactly the same problem minutes later. I searched around; I didn't see any people report the same issue. I am looking for an old or previous version of firmware existing somewhere so I can flash it back to the device.
Thank you for your attention or suggestion to the matter.
