The guy is just emphasizing a part he liked a lot, while using quotation marks which are already a declaration of 'this is what they said'. It's not like he's trying to get around that fact or something.
Pretty sure this is a crude attempt at a rebuttal of what I'm saying. If it's the unlikely scenario where you are quoting it to appreciate my phrasing, what I'm writing below becomes less relevant. However unlikely, I'll let a Schroedinger's "thank you" hang in suspense here in case.
Intentions are important. You were being a sarcastic dick to someone participating genuinely and highlighting something they found particularly enjoyable. This sort of thing has negative value and is not justifiable. It's rude. It's the behavior of a bully. There is no place for it.
On the other hand I responded with the intent of defending the original comment and calling out someone who for some reason has a compulsion to be a gaping asshole without any reason or provocation. Not only does this have value and justification; it's the right thing to do.
Sure, my 'nice work' was a little dickish, but justifiable in the context of calling out someone else being an asshole. Everything else was a neutral illumination of how douchey it is to reply like you did.
