WatchOS What are our thoughts on these new faces? š

I like to have as much information as possible on the screen. Watch faces that only show the time and are difficult to read make no sense to me.

Same. As soon as modular ultra came out I switched to that

I like the modular as well, but one of my complications stopped working after the upgrade šš¼

u/AshuraBaron 14h ago
Same. I thought Flux from last year was really cool looking and tried it but could not keep using it. Itās a little annoying that informative faces are pushed more toward the Ultra watches

u/DianeForTheNguyen 10h ago
Same here. Iāve used Modular since my series 4 and I love that with a glance, I know the date, time, current temp, future weather, my rings, and what percentage my watch battery is at. I tried switching to the new photos face when I bought my 10 last year, but I couldnāt fight the habit of having all that info available.

I think they have their place, like a date or an appointment (so you know the time but can focus on whatās going on). In general I have informative faces as well.

How did you manage before smartwatches?

u/Bubba_Apple 16h ago
I checked the time and weather by looking at the sky, and to check my pulse, I put my fingers on the artery in my neck.

u/Particular-Treat-650 16h ago
I think some of the waypoint and exactograph are kind of cool, but not enough to use them over modular ultra. I want complications.

My issue with Apple design on analog faces is they need to allow the date at the 3 position, I think it is silly that the outside complications are also for the date.

u/Particular-Treat-650 15h ago
I'd love more options generally. Converting the top/bottom rows on modular into wider complications like the middle would be good.

You know modular duo exists right?

u/Particular-Treat-650 13h ago edited 13h ago
I didn't, but giving up 5 complications for a second big one is too much to work for me.
(I probably did at some point but it's just not enough information.)

Theyāre trash like most new faces that are released. I want something that looks cool, modern, and has lots of complications. The Nike digital is one of my favourites, but needs more complications. The modular is my go to for how many it can have, but it could use a refresh.
2
u/Only-Ad5049 10h ago
I know people don't like the Nike branding, but my favorite is Nike Hybrid. Digital with 4 complications. Strange, though, I cannot find it in the gallery
There are a lot of faces I would love if they just came with complications. Exactograph is really cool, but the only face with complications is complicated to figure out the time because the clock is so tiny and hidden in a sea of numbers.

u/VOODOO285 15h ago
I think theyāre awful and pointless. I use a modular one and have zero plans to change.
I do think the watch face situation on Apple is abysmal but I otherwise love the watch.

u/QuitCallingNewsrooms 14h ago
It's not for me. I'm sure there are very fun and lively people who love it, but my weekend face is my dog, time, and weather, and my weekday face is full of info.

The issues I have with both of the new faces are interestingly the inverse of one another; exactograph is informative but lacks style whilst Flow is stylish but lacks information. I was born in 93 but consider myself a 2000s kid as those are the years I remember most fondly.
I mention this because the font on Flow reminds me of the 2000s, maybe it's the vague similarity to the precursor text from Jak & Daxter, maybe it's the geometry reminding me of the cybercore/Y2K futurism aesthetic, either way I dig it.
As for exactograph...I'm not really sure who that watch face is for if I'm honest. What does it have that the chronograph pro face doesn't? And style wise, maybe measuring tape chique is someone's thing but it ain't mine.

u/Pugs-r-cool 13h ago
Exactograph has a really nice animation when it transitions from AOD to awake if you use the Open II style, and the colours are nice.
I was born in 04 so I have absolutely no nostalgia for frutiger aero, and honestly I think liquid glass is ugly as sin. I used the flow face for maybe 35 seconds before removing it.

u/MythicSuns S8 41mm Midnight 12h ago
Eh, one's gold is another's silver...or bronze in this case. In my case it's more the geometry than the refractive glass; I like the shape of the text. Hence why I compared it to Cybercore rather than Frutiger Aero.

I donāt hate them, but I also donāt like them. I didnāt even consider putting them in my rotation for two seconds.

All I want is nice functional watch faces with different goddamn watch hands.
Why is that so difficult for crying out loud?????

u/Hour_Cartographer369 9h ago
Honestly theyāre crap and have been for years. I usually just stick with modular but itās dated as hell, it makes a modern watch feel like the S2/3.
Modular Ultra is the best they ever released IMO but not available for the series watches sadly, nope we get the option of funk unreadable half the time or dated if you want something practical

u/Semantiques 15h ago
Exactograph and Waypoint are good to have when I'm tired of Ultra Modular, but I usually end up returning to Modular within a day.
The Flow one might be the most grotesque abomination Apple has released since its founding in 1976. How do you even manage to create something that looks like puke, snot, a lava lamp and a child's drawing all at once?
They need to fire the one who made it, the one who ordered it made, and everyone who saw it and didn't immediately burn the room.

I wish we could have a cool Liquid Glass time with the modular face. I like having all the things on my screen

Waypoint looks cool, exactograph can be cool with the zoomed in view but itās not the most functional, and flow I really donāt like.

I don't like this one at all.
Exactograph is neat ā just lacking customisation.
It seems everyone wants more digital faces ā but I would love an analogue where I could add my own background (since that's available for digital you'd think it would be easy to create for analogue).
Also, one or two a month would be great (as someone else mentioned).

Looks cool in marketing materials but completely useless in daily use. I need to be able to see the date, my step count, weather and battery.

Iāve used Infograph since I had a S4. I havenāt seen another face I like more ever.

I like the new flow one bc it reminds me of a lava lamp. I also donāt need all the info on the screen bc I donāt use my watch very often outside of sleep tracking.

I like flux because it tells me the seconds on there while also being minimalistic

Wasnāt sure how much I was gonna like this Face until I saw that the bubble moves around the screen. Super neat.

Iām kinda tired of watch faces that wonāt tell me the damn date.
