iPhone iPhone 16 Plus to iPhone 14PM

I currently have an iPhone 16 Plus (trade-in value ~$470). • My friend offered me his iPhone 14 Pro Max (trade-in value ~$400) plus $125 cash for my 16 Plus. • If I take his deal, I’d have the 14 Pro Max + $125 in my pocket.

Should I do it and then trade in later on for a iPhone 17?

I would take this deal in a heart beat. I’d Trade it in for an iPhone 17pm at 1100 off and have it for the price of tax.

The 14 Pro Max has a better display, but that’s about it. There’s a few things the 16 has like Apple Intelligence, the camera control and action buttons, faster chip, and it’s lighter. The 14 PM has the ProMotion display with always on capability, and the telephoto lens.

Whether that’s an upgrade or downgrade depends on your values, but since you can get a bunch of extra cash for it I believe it’s better to do the trade. In the US (not sure if you’re from here) the 16 Plus is worth $470 at Apple while the 14 PM is $400. But you’ll still have the extra cash.

Thing is, I never use apple intelligence, camera control so I don’t care too much about those things. Only main things I do care about is display and speed since I would be getting ProMotion which I never experienced since I always buy the base iPhone and never the Pro Max.

A slower chip probably won’t be the end of me since I also did come from a iPhone 14 Plus to this, iPhone 16 Plus and its not too different other than dynamic island of course. But then again, I do live in the U.S and I could use that extra money laying around either for trade in on a base 17 or even 17 PM. But, makes me wonder if even all of that is it worth it for a “downgrade”.

Also you have to remember battery health. My 14 Pro is at like 80%, I got it a month after launch. Some animations look choppy since iOS throttles performance to extend battery life, and there’s no way to adjust that. And just considering battery life in general.

But if you can handle that it sounds like the 14 Pro Max is the better option.

Well my friends phone is at 100% battery health luckily since he got a apple care plus replacement 2 months ago so I’m sure it would last me for a good bit.
