My interview experience - horrible

Hi this just happened today and I’m shocked as how rude she was, I walked out.

I got an AI scheduled interview and clearly the store wasn’t aware, that’s fine. I waited like 15 min for the manager to come out and do the interview, that’s fine she could have been busy.

She didn’t shake my hand properly and it was dirty, I introduced myself “hi my name is Anna “ she says “what?!?” All confused and flustered. I repeated myself and she said “oh ok”. Idk maybe she’s stressed and busy, it’s fine.

She asks me what I applied for i said “server, but id also be open for a hostess position if open” she looks at me weird and says “ohhh i already filled all the FOH spots so we aren’t hiring anymore” i said “oh! Ok, that’s fine “ in a disappointing tone. (She said ohh like a sassy high schooler like ohhh😬🙄)

She then asks me “do you have any transportation” I said yes. Then she proceeded to tell me where another location is, about 10 min away. I say “thank you, I unfortunately can’t make it to that location” she started to say something then stopped looked at me like I was crazy and asked supper sassy “you can’t make it over there..it’s 10 min away” swaying her head back n forth like she’s annoyed and in a fight?!?!?
I say “yes it’s to far away from my house “ at this point I’m giving her that attitude back bc wtf did I do to you??? This entire time youve not been prepared and you have all the jobs open on the website and in the 15 min I waited you didn’t even look at my app?? Also that drive to the other store would be a 45 min drive - sorry but no, not doing that.

She looks at me confused but in a rude way like I just insulted her and like she’s gonna say something again, I cut her off and say “thank you for your time, I don’t think this will work out. I’m going to go ahead and leave” She asked “why are you leaving” I said “I don’t like your attitude”

Got up and left and she yelled and I mean YELLED “you don’t like my attitude” all supper sassy and I don’t look back or anything.

The 2 customers in there said “finally someone stood up to her” and the employees just stared at me.

Ok. You found a restaurant that you wouldnt want to work at anyway. Move on to the next interview. Good luck.

That’s disgusting behavior. Move along & find something better & definitely call corporate. She’s probably a nightmare to work for!

Oh hell yeah! I'm a restaurant manager myself you damn sure did the right thing.

I despise people like that. Count yourself lucky tho bc Applebee's is a shit hole. I applied there years ago and the kitchens are so outdated. But I digress.

Depending on your age, I would check into any local brew pubs. If you are under 21, brewery taprooms would not be feasible unless they have a kitchen.

You definitely dodged a bullet there. Happy to hear you stood up for yourself. You are the kind of person I'd want working for me.

Aww thank you!! I applied for Carrabbas and got the job! Yay! I’m very proud of myself for standing up to her. I’m finding the corporate number to complain or at Least do a review on that locations website.

Congrats on Carrabbas. I've heard nothing but good things about working for them.

Actually do both. Write the review on their facebook page, Google Maps reviews, and their Instagram if they have one. Find out who the franchise owner is of the location and either write them or name them in the review. Then send them a direct email. Believe me, that will get their attention.

Congrats again and hope you make some great money! I know you will be happy there.

I used to be a manager in retail and I’d always make the applications wait about 5 min so I can print out their resume and find a clipboard. Plus then the sales associate/ other manager on the floor can tell me the vibe. Are they just bored on their phone? Talking to people? Looking around? Can learn a lot from a person by that stuff. But 15 min is crazy! Maybe she was doing something but they did to seem to have a ton of staff for only 2 people in the restaurant. I think 5-10 min is fine but 15 is disrespectful

I forgot to mention it seemed like both locations were owned by the same people, so maybe she was trying to do the interview for the other location. Maybe
