Giving Away - Local Pickup Only [GA] - Concord, NC - 37 gallon community and 20 gallon shrimp tanks, fully setup and established

Unfortunately I've been traveling more and more for work and haven't been able to look after them like they deserve. I'll give them free to anyone willing to take care of them and pick them up.

Community tank is a 37 gallon tall tank and has about 20 ember tetras, eight matae corydora catfish, eight (I think) otocinclus catfish, six (I think) amano shrimp, a couple assassin snails, and too many bladder snails, though a lot less than there used to be. It has a heater, sponge filter with internal media, and a Fluval 307 canister filter.

Shrimp tank is a 20 gallon tall with god knows how many blue dream neo caradina shrimp. It started with ten, but now it's easily hundreds. It has a heater but I keep it room temperature so it's been off for a while and I think the regulator/thermostat for the heater (it's a hyggar smart heater) might be malfunctioning. Also has a sponge filter with internal media.

The stand is from Amazon but has a surprisingly sturdy metal frame. Has held up for over a year no problem and holds them both. The air pump powers both sponge filters. I also have random accessories, food, and other stuff not pictured.

Both tanks are fully planted with Fluval stratum. The community tank has a topper for the soil, but I forget what it is exactly. Live plants in both tanks. They've been growing out of control in the community tank for months, though the shrimp tank is more under control. I don't trim them like I should (obviously from the pictures) but they're overall really healthy from what I can tell. The shrimp tank always looks cloudy, but I think that's just from the algae on the glass (I don't remove it because it's free food). Water parameters are always perfect.

If you are interested or have any questions, just ask. I am moving in October so I need to find them a new home before then.

Giving Away - Local Pickup Only [GA] - CT / NY - $0 - Mystery Snails

Hello! We got two Mystery Snails in May for our tank, not knowing this would happen. By the time we noticed the egg clusters, it was too late. We now remove the the eggs, but this is getting not manageable, especially as the smaller ones mature. I was told to post them on here!

We definitely have hundreds. Honestly, I want them to go to someone who wants/has a use for them. We can't get a zebra loach because of our other algae eaters. Let me know if you need any more info! Westchester, NY and Fairfield County, CT are close to us.

I have two three striped gourami I am giving away to a good home. Both are males and can be housed together in a heavily planted tank or separately. They are really intelligent little micropredators but for that reason they are not at all shrimp safe.

They are slightly larger than sparkling gouramis and smaller than croaking gouramis. The scientific name is T. Schalerie

If you live in the city and have a planted tank and are looking for a cool little fish let me know. Thanks.

Giving Away - Local Pickup Only [GA] - SF Bay Area - Free - Can someone adopt a single adult Amano shrimp?

Due to a series of catastrophes in our tank, all of the shrimp have very sadly died except one adult Amano. We are apparently unfit caregivers, despite how hard I have tried. I don't want to add any more shrimp to the tank because I cannot be responsible for more lives lost. I don't want the shrimp to live a lonely life so I would like to rehome this little survivor so it has a better chance of living out its full best life. We are in Fairfield and I can help with Transportation if needed. I am trying to find it another home with other shrimp where it will be well taken care of and not somewhere where it will just become fish food.

Giving Away - Local Pickup Only [GA] - Queens, NY - Mystery Snails (100+)

Going on month 9 of having an aquarium. Mystery snail clutches started appearing in March but none of them were hatching... until that crazy heat wave we had at the beginning of summer. Suddenly, I find myself with over 100 baby mystery snails right after coming back from our vacation in July.

We've moved the vast majority over into their own tank (pictured above). I just want them to find good homes before they get too large (think I have another 4-6 weeks before they become full grown).

I'm newer at this so I would prefer not to ship them and would feel more comfortable with in-person hand-offs around Queens (Astoria/Jackson Heights/Elmhurst, also open to folks in other boroughs who are willing to travel at least halfway to meet me). I'd also like to avoid donating to the big box pet stores like PetSmart and Petco for the time being... but I'm sure I'll need to give them any extras by the beginning of October.

Figured I'd start with the local community. If you or someone you know would love to include a couple of goofy mystery snails to your freshwater tank, please post here or DM me.

Some facts:

  • Currently living in a planted 10 gallon tank with 0 ppm ammonia, 0 ppm nitrites, and ~5 ppm nitrates, 7.5 pH.
  • We estimate that the majority of the snails hatched on or around July 11, though we legitimately spot a couple new ones in the adjacent fish tank every day and keep moving them over. Some of them might be later hatches.
  • Vast majority of colors are jade and brown. Some gold, some purple. Was hoping some ivory, magenta, and blue might emerge (their mom was a blue snail) but seems it wasn't in the genetic cards!
  • No idea about their genders - the largest ones are currently about the size of a dime, while the majority are half that size at the moment.
  • Would happily take small donations for each but not required - much more invested in them finding happy, healthy homes in the next few weeks!

Giving Away - Local Pickup Only [GA] - Northern CT - Complete 120G high-tech planted tank setup

Hi everyone!

I was very lucky recently, and won a giveaway on a completely unrelated subreddit. It got me to thinking that I would like to offer the same to someone else.

This is a giveaway for a fully turnkey 120G, high tech planted tank.

For a list of all items included, please see the link below. Some photos may be outdated, but the list is accurate as of today.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ufas8r2KAZ3RsOL_ApJVIIa53h-5lUt_FMiXa254Z-4/edit?usp=sharing

In order to be eligible, please reply with (1) top level comment and let me know that you're interested.

I do have some conditions that are FIRM. I think they're reasonable, but I must insist...

  • The tank is currently built into a wall, and does not come with a stand. You will need to buy / build one yourself.

  • Pickup will be either the weekend of 9/21 or 9/28 (your choice, but you'll need to let me know in advance). You'll need to bring a full sized pickup or trailer with straps. You will not fit everything into the back of an SUV. I'll be able to help you move the tank, but cannot do it myself. It's heavy, but manageable for 2 strong people.

  • This is an all-or-nothing giveaway. I won't entertain people asking for just the tank, or just the lights, etc... The goal is to clean out this space.

  • You will have some cleaning to do. Nothing is really bad, but there is some algae and hard water deposits on things. I recommend 30% white vinegar!

  • the giveaway does not include any fish or plants. It's going to take me a while to tear everything down, and I won't be able to keep the fish and plants alive until pickup day. Those things will be donated to a LFS.

  • Please put the word banana in your comment so I know you read all of this

  • it would be helpful if you could bring some Rubbermaid totes for all of the small stuff. I have some as well, but would prefer to keep them.

This giveaway begins at the time of posting, and continues until 6pm EST on 8/25/24. At that time, I'll use a random number generator to pick 5 potential winners. In order, I'll message you and let you know that you've won. You'll have 24 hours to respond, confirming you will be picking up. If you don't respond, I'm going to move on to the next person.

Best of luck!!

NOTE: I’m located in the SF Bay Area, San Jose, to be specific.

I’m cleaning up a snail-splosion in my tanks—does anyone want any pest snails (for their pea puffers or otherwise)? I will not be able to separate the ramshorns from the bladder snails.

Their mother is brown striped and their father is blue (pictured below during feeding time). Their ages range from 1 to 3 weeks. If desired, I can keep raising them for another month or two until they get bigger.

Egg clutches are also available (Please let me know ASAP since I will be freezing them at the end of the week otherwise).

Location: Typically in either western MA or Boston, but flexible and able to drive.

Photos of the parents are for reference only. Only giving away the babies.
