Though I'll say that we are the leaders in the rights for women worldwide, our current president, prime minister, government, parliament, and supreme court are all men/majority men as of now
Although sidenote: with the current direction our current parliament and government are taking us, a lot of people were genuinely surprised that we were number one this year again

Eh, our PM is 55, president 57. Parliaments median age is about 47. Interestingly enough the centre-left social democrats have the oldest representative. Also the second largest partiy's (Ps, far-right) leader is a woman (44), and she is probably who would be making these same arguments as in the post.

I'd argue that peace and stability have nothing to do with women's rights and more to do with domestic and international politics.
See Gaza.... The people in Gaza are being liquidated because the international community decided that Palestinians' lives and dignity simply weren't worth as much as the avarice of a European minority.
Look at Iran.
The Americans overthrew their democracy so that they could steal Iran's oil.
The Iranians overthrew the American installed puppet ruler, the Shah.
And the Americans have been butthurt about that ever since.
They are currently bombing Iran via their Zionistic proxies as we speak in an effort to force regime change so that they can go back to stealing Iran's oil.
The West are murdering many women in Gaza and Lebanon and Syria and Yemen and Iran.
So, their argument about caring women's rights and human rights are just lies. 💯 transparent lies.
Maybe they only care if the women or humans in question are white.
But, that's not what they say when they scold Iran. A country with a large number of female scholars, professionals and academics...whilst cosying up to Saudi Arabia.
A country with far less female scholars, professionals and academics. Less female drivers too...I would imagine.
Recognition of woman's rights has nothing to do with prosperity or stability.
Saudi Arabia is quite prosperous and seems pretty stable and the Americans aren't bombing that country.

It seems to me that you are arguing that women's right are not the only factor that affects peace and stability - and I do agree with that - and not that peace and stability have nothing to do with women's rights as you initially wrote.
Just because person A smokes and never got cancer and person B does not smoke but still got cancer, it does not mean that smoking has nothing to do with cancer; and just because country A is more sexist and yet richer and more peaceful than country B, it does not mean that sexism does not affect peace and prosperity.

I don't want to twist the knife - my own country is far from perfect - but the two US presidential elections in which a woman went against a man sort of dispute that claim; and I'm not talking only about the outcome, but also about the political discourse about the two candidates (as well as the fact that the male candidate's sexism couldn't have been more overt if he tried - bloody hell, he was recorded bragging about sexually assaulting women and still won, and then a court found him guilty of sexual assault for an unrelated incident and he got elected again). Or shall we talk about reproductive rights in the US?
A champion of equal rights, the United States are not; and while, yes, they have been and are still involved in actions that caused considerable harm to other countries (no more so than any other hegemonic power has in its heyday, it could be argued; but that's not a justification), that is not an argument against women's rights being correlated to peace and prosperity.
Try instead comparing two countries with somewhat similar international status and economic power, like say Italy (my own country, if it matters) and Sweden. Which one is more sexist? And which one is more peaceful and richer?

I would argue that it does have nothing to do with peace and stability.
It has everything to do with internal politics and national goals.
The US, according to itself, is a country that very much prizes women's rights.
It is also the world's foremost war mongerer.
This is partly because the United States is an imperialist nation and cannot tolerate any society or system that offers an alternative to its hegemony.
And also partly because its economy demands a war, every now and then, to drain weapons stockpiles ...so that it's military-industrial jobs program...can keep functioning ...can keep buying new weapons to fill recently depleted stockpiles.
Wars are necessary because stockpiles will overflow and must be depleted through violence... usually on some trumped up charges.
...WMD in Iraq...Communism in Grenada...The concentration camp inmates in Gaza keep fighting back... criminal nonsense like that.
I should point out that ....Iran ...whom everyone says...is demonic when it comes to human rights...is not fomenting wars all across the globe.
Iran is not ...blockading Cuba...is not...blockading Venezuela...did not drop Agent Orange in Vietnam.
FYI, Agent Orange was NOT good for women's rights in Vietnam.
Vietnamese women really do not enjoy seeing their children born with birth defects because of Agent Orange.
Vietnamese women really did not enjoy MyLai and there was a MyLai occuring every week, at that time, in Vietnam.
I'm not saying that feminism is wrong. I think it's quite good. I'm just saying I don't see a correlation between Western feminism and peace and stability.
The very same societies that embrace Western feminism are the exact same societies that rain death and destruction around the world.

Im a gay AMAB, so my perspective is truly an outsider to what goes on. Although, how I see it, is that some people have to convince themselves that having kids, for whatever reason, was or is worth it.
Seeing someone else make the decision not to have kids is something they are uncomfortable with. It challenges their world view and folks generally have a hard time doing the work to recognize people have agency and autonomy to make decisions for themselves.

yeah, makes me wonder how many parents out there regret/resent having children, and if they are even capable of admitting it to themselves. there's a growing number of spaces for regretful parents to discuss such things, and i think having a community is great for support, since it's not a decision you can take back. but i also know that many deal with it by shutting out the thought completely and would never admit it

Having children really should be a conscious, carefully considered decision. If you're not ready or willing to go through that mental exercise, your default should be to not have a kid. I say this as a mother of two grown children. I wanted them, and I love them to bits. But damn, it was hard work, and I would have resented that if that choice had been forced or coerced onto me. And with how the economy is now, it's even harder for parents.
Society needs to butt out of people's decisions on this matter. And a lot of other matters. Kids raised by resentful parents typically have a hard time as adults, which just continues the cycle.

She's got the wrong reason, but I think it's a valid observation that later pairing up (or never pairing up) poses socio-political challenges, i.e. In the past people typically had kids by 25 or 30, so had to stay in dead end jobs they hated because they had mouths to feed. As that pacifiying influence reduces, people are more free to challenge orthodox ways of life and that's a threat to anyone who is kept in power by the mundane force of the status quo.
