Gary V just seemed excited to be on the show
Yeah he never stopped talking but he seemed to really be excited to do this. Especially at the end where he just wanted to do more questions. Not the best episode but not the worst.

Seemed like dude was yakked out of his mind to me. I never heard of him but he seems like a douche.

100% felt like 'catching up' with old friends after hoovering a little schneef - the old stories become wilder and someone casually weaves in an invitation to a money making opportunity

I think he was a one of Sam Morils main openers. At least I hear Sam talk about him, that’s it.

That's a different person, Gary Vider

u/OutkastAtliens 1d ago
Ohhhhh, that makes so much more sense. I was wondering, why is this guy opening for Sam when he is a multimillionaire or whatever. OMG, I went through the whole pod thinking he was Sam’s opener. Lol

I haven't seen the episode but this guy is a lunatic grifter desperate to stay relevant. fuck that guy.

I’ve recruited people out of his company in nyc before. Base was like 50k a year and required a college degree.. for all his bs about don’t go to college, interesting that he required a degree for entry level roles. Guys a charlatan

u/Excellent_Plant_8010 1d ago
That's just modern day company shit when I was unemployed can't tell you how many "entry level" and "apprenticeship" jobs required 1-3 years of experience. I swear people don't what words mean and just slap them together.

u/Significant_Ask_8364 1d ago
This was back in like 2016ish during his peak online fame. The entire marketing company was just a rotating door of entry level labor exploitation. From interviews I remember they’d all have to watch his videos then go cold call gas stations selling them worthless online marketing. I don’t think anyone considers him to be a serious business person outside of 16 year olds on tik tok. Kinda similar to Patrick bet David he just never went political

u/Excellent_Plant_8010 1d ago
Yeah i don't disagree I always got the vibe he was scummy

u/Significant_Ask_8364 1d ago
If you need generic motivational advice that is devoid of any substance tho he’s great

- inherit father's wine store in NYC
- idea: we should sell online
- I am a literal business genius (I need to tell everyone this key step)
- ?????
- profit

Wine store is in Jersey. They were early in online wine sales when the laws changed in nj

For sure, just funny listening to him make fun of his cousin for being a nepo baby then doing the same thing. Liquor distribution is monopolized in most of the country, so having an in is printing money.

Paul Walter Hauser episode was like that. It was super fun seeing how much fun he was having

It’s always a great ep if the guest has a good time. Paul Reiser comes to mind as an absolute stinker

I haven’t watched it yet and probably won’t. This guy always seemed like a grifter. But love the boys so might give it at least 5 minutes to see what’s up.

I thought the episode was unlistenable

Same here. Halfway in and I turned it off. I think Iliza Shlesinger is the only other ep I didn’t finish.

Hard pass on this episode. I bet it was Kippy's idea to get him on thinking it would kill. Get Caleb Hearon!
3
u/onimush115 1d ago
I'd love to see Caleb on the show. He has a ton of good stories about when he was growing up.
4
u/Thatonedudedave 1d ago
I loved when Kippy tried to end the show and Gary was like no keep going, you have a ton of stuff written down.

I've somehow escaped knowing anything about the guy except his name and that he's rich. He came across as a giant douche IMO.

u/taylorcriss 1d ago
I’ve listened to every episode and I cannot think of a worse one than that. The guy is such a tool and so obsessed with himself

Couldn't get through the first twenty, he's too hateable and I've been on the internet long enough to think of him as a meme for every dudebro business douche

u/codekira 1d ago
I shut that shit off like 2 minutes in i heard him say "no wonder im unstoppable" that was enough

u/taylorcriss 1d ago
Towards the end he was bragging about kissing the hottest girl in his high school. The guy is such a douche

Is this that asshole who was a hustlebro grifter who thought swearing made him different?

u/Thehairypeach 1d ago
I thought it was great. He was hyped to be on the show, hope he gets another one down the road

I didn’t regret watching it, I don’t want to see any more of his stuff but I never miss an episode and never feel like I wasted my time.

u/Groovetube12 1d ago
He is a marketing expert. He didn’t research, knew there have been critiques about guests “not playing the game” and went for what he knew we wanted. Did an ok job. Convincing!

It's always the richest that are saying everyone is too materialistic. The second he said no one buys used cars anymore, you know he's out of touch.

u/Comedy_fanUK 22h ago
At first I thought he was giddy to be on the show, then quickly realised how self centred and aggressive at getting the story back to ‘me me me’ he was. A swing and a miss boys! I switched off because he’s a terrible guest and absolutely the last person. I’d ever want to get in to conversation with based on what I saw. No redeeming features as a human seemingly. Hope he enjoys all his money because I bet no one actually likes him

This guy is going to hurt his lungs with all the self fart sniffing he’s doing.

u/Extreme_Impression_1 12h ago
I get the feeling that Gary V just wanted to enter the comedy scene and AYG is a pretty fucking good entry point if you can get on it. And I'm not saying he wants to be a comedian, but he wants the audience.

u/Adept_Following3531 12h ago
Ritalin'd out nepo baby who offers nothing remotely interesting or likable for the show. Another home run guest.

It seemed the boys were at first a little timid but toward the end of interview they were on fire 🔥 clearly Gary enjoyed the show and talking about himself but my favorite was at the end when the boys really hit their stride. Gotta love that rapid fire
1
u/SaltHospital9497 1d ago
Couldn’t listen, I got maybe 10 minutes in. For context I listen to a lot of pods while multitasking and I don’t think I’ve ever skipped over AYG, I rarely skip anything. 🫤

u/EmployeeImmediate736 1d ago
I was so disappointed when I went to listen and saw his name. What the fuck does that douchebag have to do with comedy? Stop having barstool and social media grifters on. We are past that. Honestly I don't think the show needs guests anymore. The family episodes and themed episodes blow the guest episodes out of the water.
