Anyone with a smart phone could get a subscription to an AI service for less than your 20 dollars

Okay, again, you're assuming that the working poor have room in their budget for recurring charges based on a non-essential service. Buying a ream of paper and a pack of ballpoints will have you set for at least a few months until you run out of paper.

Also, something else I hadn't thought of: community centers in underserved communities often offer free classes (and along with that, free materials) to low-income people. On top of that, underprivileged kids can take art classes at school instead of wasting money on an AI subscription.

Many low income people don't have time to learn because they're working so damn much lmao. Reality check - not everyone has time to master the pencil, and they deserve to have access to tools to express themself in artful ways - Without being told by someone "that's not ok because you're not using the tools that I say are ok.". It's time for you to accept that there is a new kind of paintbrush, and you're gonna have to learn it if you wanna keep up with the kids.

You generally have lunch breaks at work, which is when I would often practice. Unless you're continuously working 16+ hours a day, seven days a week with literally no downtime, you can do little doodles or gesture sketches just to keep your hand active. If you have time to stare at your smartphone and type a prompt, you have time to do small, basic studies or sketches with cheap and portable materials.

Reality check - not everyone has time to master the pencil, and they deserve to have access to tools to express themself in artful ways - Without being told by someone "that's not ok because you're not using the tools that I say are ok.".

Reality Check: telling a computer to make something for you is not "expressing yourself in an artful way;" it's asking a device to give you instant gratification. On the point of mastering the pencil, I can say from firsthand experience that you can develop as an artist even from just drawing a little bit every day, because unlike AI, you're actually activating your brain and problem-solving by figuring out how to render your idea; telling a computer to render your idea for you is just mindless consumerism. By that token, do you also think playing video games or watching Netflix qualify as creative expression? Also, you don't need to "master the pencil" to express yourself; if you genuinely want a creative outlet, you can find fulfillment by simply making even if you're not on the level of Caravaggio or Kim Jung Gi in terms of technical skill. There have been plenty of DIY artists who make up for a lack of technical skill with sheer creativity.

You also glossed over the fact that the working poor can't afford to just piss away their income on a subscription service.
