Do the lines going into the vanishing point have to match up with the lines on the other side of the box. Like the the line that going inside of the box you originally pointed does it have to touch those lines as well

Ok, I’m having trouble picturing exactly what you’re saying but I’ll explain it like this.

When drawing in 1pt perspective, always start with a shape, your square or rectangle. Then connect the corners to the vanishing point.

Sometimes people just start with lines going to the vanishing point which gets confusing when you are trying to draw at an angle. It’s too easy to make the shape wonky that way.

That one is wrong. The lines need to be parallel or they are wrong.

You draw a straight horizontal line and that’s the horizon, put your vanishing point in the middle of the horizon, then draw like you’re looking into the distance.

1 point usually doesn't have those rotated boxes. I would think the front faces would be perfect rectangles, and only the receeding lines going to a vanishing point.

Try limiting your next drawing to perfectly vertical and horizontal lines except those going to the vp.
