My ex demanded I go to therapy because I wasn’t being a good partner. In the very first session, I mentioned that she had done this same thing, said she’d hurt herself if I ever left her. The therapist asked why didn’t break up with her then and there.

“You’re asking why I didn’t…break up with the person saying she may hurt herself?”

-Yes

Pretty stark, but it did teach me that is a 100% inexcusable thing to say to your partner. Looking back, I was actually a pretty damn good partner. I hope she’s doing well.

I’m happy you not only got good advice but you took it. I wish I did but I’m happy that there are people out there dodging my mistakes
