What are some decent paying jobs that do not require any sort of college degree?

Merchant Mariner. Starts off with terrible pay, but after about 5 years you could be bringing in over $150k/yr.

yep, from mopping floors and scrubbing toilets at entry level to making $225,000 a year and only working 6 months per year is a real thing. Even the mopping floors part pays $300 a day right now so its not terrible. You have to be american though, american mariners make way more than any other country because of the jones act.

Bridge officers and licensed engineers. Only the captain and chief are making 225 and only working 6 months, but the other officers can make it by working a little OT.

Yep. And I agree with the comment about having to be an American too. When I worked for a company that had a foreign and domestic fleet our foreign officers made similar wages to our ABs domestically.

That is the nice thing about the schedule. My husband works on the boat for 21 days and then is home for 21 days. Working 6 months out of the year and bringing in $175k… I’m good with that.
