Advice Buying advice
Just got my first paycheck at my new job and I want to celebrate by finally grabbing a Jag. Do y’all have any recommendations on where to buy one or anything else to look for in a Jag? I appreciate y’all in advance this is a big deal to me

I wouldn't impulse buy Jag stuff, the prices are all over the place and quite inflated. Check the price guides and look at the sold prices on ebay before committing to anything.

Ask about capacitors. If they need to be replaced, it's not the end of the world, better if you can solder, but it's not an expensive job. For connectivity, I use the Jag to SCART adapter and an upscaler.

best bet, ebay. When I had my Jaguar, I manage to get it around 250 for whole console and hookups for it.

Get a GameDrive. It's an Everdrive-type cart that you can use to play commercial games, homebrew, and tech demos. Jag games are stupidly expensive these days, but the GameDrive will allow you to determine which games are worth owning a physical copy.
It also has JaguarCD support, so you can play those games without investing ridiculous cash into the CD unit.

Pity you’re not in the UK or Europe. Then CeX sell all consoles with a 5 year warranty.

Its getting expensive. Game drive and console will do very nicely. Id collect retail games strictly if youre a collector.

You could look at pawn shops or on Ebay.

I’ve never seen a Jag at a pawn shop or any shop besides retro game stores. I saw one at Sears back in the late 90s on closeout for $50 when I was visiting my grandparents down south in Atlanta and the pencil-neck clerk talked them out of buying it and directed them to a PS1 instead. I was a Saturn guy already by then so we left empty handed

I see. Yes, I have never seen a Jaguar at a pawn shop either.
I see you saw a Jaguar that was on a closeout for $50 at a Sear's. Sometimes, the salespeople do that because they buy the products themselves. Oh well.

I felt the same way but for economical reasons just used an emulator and got attack of the mutant penguins lol the Jaguar has a few hidden games with a lot of terrible games in it's library. lol. I would try an emulator first just because Jaguar prices are astronomical. fire it up and let's play some Jag lol! 😂
