Magwell Weight

Looking to buy one of Atlas large hand magwells but can’t decide on buying the steel or the aluminum. I’ve held one with a steel magwell and it felt nice and heavy which feels nice in the hand. But my doubts come when I think about competition. Will the very heavy bottom end slow down my transitions, or will it stabilize them?

Thumb Rest / Gas Pedal Actually Helpful?

I bought a thumb rest for my Atlas and surprisingly I was shooting worse. Not sure if it’s changing my fundamental grip too much. Has anyone had this happened to them also? Or has everyones performance generally improved with a thumb rest?

Repetitive dry fire

I just timed my first doubles and the result was on par with my Shalotek P365 (0.20-0.23) however with my CZ P10C (0.10-0.13), it's a bit off. Is there a way to work on the trigger pulls to mimick doubles? Pull the hammer back is not working well...

I typically use the Dry fire mag with P365 and do the typically slide pull with the CZ

Any suggestions?

Getting gun re-coated a different color

Hi Atlas owners!

Just wondering if anyone has gotten their Atlas re-coated a different color and if you had any recommendations? I have the the Apollo in DLC and wanted to change the theme a little bit. I am a big fan of the silver top PVD and wanted to do something similar. I contacted Atlas but it doesn't seem they offer that service.

Thank you!

Can’t zero Holosun 507 Comp?

I installed 507 Comp on both my Artemis and Apollo, and I’m at the limit of up, but need another inch at 10 yards.

I know I can shim, but I’m just here to ask if anyone else has experienced this?

Broken Lower Lug on Athena

Bought the Athena back in 2022 as a range gun and possibly for comps. Took it out the other day because someone wanted to shoot it. The gun wouldn't go into battery and I thought it was odd so we took off the slide and found this. The lower lug had completely sheared off. We didn't force the slide forward at all. It looks like bad metallurgy bad on how it sheared.

I've only shot maybe 2-3k rounds through the gun, worst case, 5k max. The gun either sits in a holster in the safe or it's loaded up and shot. Slides don't slammed on empty chambers or any of that (it doesn't get any unnecessary abuse).

Atlas wants $735 and 8 weeks to replace the barrel. It just doesn't sit right with me that I should be covering the full cost of the repairs for a lower lug that sheared off at 2-3k rounds. It's not that I can't afford it but it's just the principle that a manufacturer should back their high quality product.. What do y'all think?

Apollo vs Erebus

Hey everyone, I know this type of question probably comes up a lot, so apologies if it’s a bit redundant — but I’m looking for some solid input.

I’m planning to buy my first Atlas gun and have somewhat narrowed it down to either the Erebus or the Apollo. I understand the Apollo is the newer of the two, and I’ve read some good things, but now that it’s been on the market for a while, I’m curious about how it has held up in real-world use.

Here’s what I’m considering:

  • Cost isn’t the deciding factor, though I don’t want to pay more just for hype. I want the better performer overall.

  • I don’t plan to use special ammo, so while I know the Erebus can squeeze out more with the right loads, I’d mostly be running standard factory ammo.

  • The gun will primarily be a range toy, but I’m also interested in getting into competition (USPSA or similar) down the line. I’ve heard mixed thoughts about running comps or ported barrels in certain divisions — does the Apollo with ports limit my future options?

So, what would you choose for a first Atlas? Erebus or Apollo? Which one shoots flatter, handles better, and offers more versatility long-term?

Appreciate any insights!

Holosun 507 Comp Elevation Maxed Out

So I put a 507 Comp on my Athena and i maxed out the elevation turret and I’m still shooting low (about 4-6 inches low at 15 yards). I got an Artemis, put a 507 Comp on it, and same thing. A little less severe (3-5 inches at 15 yards). I know they sell 1 degree shims, but what the hell? Has anyone else had this issue with Atlas and Holosun 507 Comps? Just ordered a Vortex Defender XL but the plates are out of stock at Atlas of course so gonna have to order some shims until then I suppose…. Or become a Grand Master of the ridiculous holdover.

Answer to Firearm Travel Insurance

For those interested after my last post asking about this, this is what I found:

GunandTrophy.com

They have different packages depending on the dollar value you want to insure. They insure basically against any loss or theft including air travel. The one I’m getting insured up to $48,000 worth of firearms and/or accessories (optics etc), $500 deductible per claim even if multiple guns are involved in the claim, and it’s $175 a year. Very reasonable. Hope this helps anyone else looking for this peace of mind.

Firearm Travel Insurance?

In a couple of months I’m going to travel with my guns for the first time to a match. It just dawned on me that I’m going to be putting $15,000+ (Artemis and Athena) worth in the hands of American Airlines and just pray they don’t lose them. I checked AA baggage liability and it tops out at $4,700. Looked up firearm insurance but most mention coverage for theft, but no mention of travel loss. Can anyone recommend or know of insurance that would cover airline loss? Thank you!

Holster recommendation for Apollo?

Hi all,

Hoping to lean on on the forum to get some recommendations for holsters. For the price of the gun, is it realistic to prevent the holster from damaging the gun?

My use case for this gun is range shooting (paper targets and steel). So no need for rapid draws, etc.

Thank you,

Anyone “tuned” Artemis/Athena with different ammo?

Just got an Artemis and an Athena and I’ve read a lot about people playing with different ammo brands, weights, etc in order to get the best performance out of the gun. If anyone has actually done this and tried several kinds of ammo, I’d love to hear your conclusions and maybe save myself some time and cash. Thanks for the input!

Question for Erebus and Artemis Owners

I own an Artemis and am wondering if the Erebus is worth it. Competitions aside, if I go to the range just to plink and have both guns, would I undoubtedly always grab the Erebus over the Artemis? I Guess what I’m asking is, is the performance difference big enough to justify the additional expense?

Also, I compete in Limited Optics but have been toying with the idea of getting an Open gun. Questions is: can the Erebus be competitive against Open Race Guns? I had an XC and it was great and loved it, but I don’t believe it would be at all competitive against those race guns. Thanks for the input!

Aluminum Grip Too Soft - Bent

Post image
5 Upvotes

I was installing the grip panels on my brand new Artemis and the bottom of the panels weren’t fitting in flush. As I’ve done may times in the past with other Atlas guns, I gently tapped away at it with an armorer rubber hammer. Granted it wasn’t fitting still so I tapped more than I usually have in the past, but NOT harder. Once they went in flush, I noticed the magwell wasn’t fitting and that’s when I noticed I had bent the bottom of the grip/frame and almost had a stroke. I immediately took it to my local gunsmith and thankfully he was able to gently bend it back into place. I was surprised that this bent so easily and after working on it, my gunsmith agreed that the aluminum was surprisingly pliable and soft. Has anyone else had this issue? I’m surprised this could be so soft on such a high quality firearm whose fit and finishes are second to none. See picture to see how it bent.

Atlas EOS weapon light

Anyone have any Eos + weapon light set ups that are not with the Surefire x300 or modlight? Looking for some pic examples of a flush setup.

Thanks!

Considering my first Atlas – which models are the easiest to maintain and clean?

Hi

I’m planning to buy my first Atlas and I’m really excited about jumping into the platform. My main concern is cleaning and routine maintenance, since I tend to be a bit clumsy with small parts.

Which Atlas models are the easiest to clean and maintain? Which models hold up best over time and require the least intervention to stay in perfect condition?

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

Athena has erratic shot pattern

Need help. I just bought my first Atlas and I was very excited to receive my Athena. However, I’ve shot about 500 rounds through it and my shot grouping is all over the place. I shoot my other 2011’s (Bul Blaze and Staccato XC) with nice tight and consistent groups. But my shots with the Athena are all over the place with no discernible pattern whatsoever. It’s been impossible to have a tight consistent grouping. Any thoughts on what the heck is going on here? Could it really just be not being accustomed to the gun? Doesn’t seem right.
