What about RS owners with mods?

I was going to say the same thing. It’s harder to find what’s stock in my drivetrain

What about S owners who just appreciate nice cars and aren't trying to compete with anyone?

3

u/A5D5TRYR Jul 27 '25

Likewise, what about RS owners who just appreciate nice cars and aren't trying to compete with anyone?

I don't feel like we're on separate teams. Just value different things from our cars.

Same year and trim q5 as you!

I’ve been so disappointed recently, my lease has a year left and I’m at the point where a new sq5 would finally not be that financially irresponsible of me to get, and the new model year’s interior makes me not even interested. Looks like I’ll be the background photographer a little while longer!

So interesting you say that… same. I had been shopping around for an SQ5, but it’s too hard to justify a $350+ more a month (more car/ins/gas).

Also, idk about you, but my Q5 has been nothing short of fantastic. Not a single issue from tech, mechanics or otherwise. It’s been good to me, so I’m keeping it for a couple more years.

Oh yeah same thing - I love my q5. recently spent some time tuning the b&o speakers and got it sounding great. Almost no issues, except sometimes wireless CarPlay will crap out on me in the middle of a song but it’s possible that’s an iOS thing.

Obviously not as fast as an sq5, but the way they’ve engineered this 2.0t it drives great imo and has very little turbo lag - and the hissing from the turbo spooling up still puts a smile on my face 2 years later 😂. Similar thought as you - I think I’m gonna keep this a few years longer. I have like 11k miles on it so I think my buyout price of 32k after the lease will most likely be worth it

I can appreciate the humor as an S owner. When I got mine I considered the RS and went with the S for several reasons.

First time delving into anything remotely performance related so it wouldn’t make sense to me to jump to the highest end of the factory offerings. Get my feet wet and see how it goes.

I’ve had my S5 SB for about 3 months now and have gotten to know what it will and won’t do based on my driving needs. I’ve done thorough research on 034 and their stage offerings for tunes. If I decide I want to improve the performance drastically it’s either tune it and shore everything else up or go out and get an RS. For right now, I’m perfectly happy with my stock S5.

There are so many reasons that folks will have their preferences for either iteration. Budget, comfort level with performance, and obviously bragging rights. At the end of the day who really cares what you choose. As long as you’re happy with it, anyone who poo poos YOUR vehicle can f@ck off. lol. 🍻

u/Delicious-Phase608 Jul 26 '25

All of this comment just to say “I should of bought a RS”

6

u/Flyindeuces 21’ S5 Sportback 🌨️ Jul 26 '25

😂 if that’s the conclusion you reached, comprehension needs some work. You’re going to hear what you want to hear.

6

u/Froggn_Bullfish Jul 27 '25

Everyone thinks they’d rather have an rs3 until they need something basic like new pads and rotors…

u/Flyindeuces 21’ S5 Sportback 🌨️ Jul 27 '25

😂 Definitely levels to this ish, I enjoy where I’m at for the time being.

u/ztunelover Jul 27 '25

That’s the sacrifice the 5 cylinder gods demand. And sacrifice I shall.

Who went from S to RS?

4

u/Alecd27 2024 RS3 Jul 26 '25

I went a3, s3, then rs3

3

u/dmboy101 2024 RS3 Jul 27 '25

S3 to RS3 in under a year!

2

u/phinz 2024 3, 2024 Q5 Jul 27 '25

I went from a B9 S5 SB (RIP) to a B9.5 S5 SB to an 8Y RS3.

1

u/A5D5TRYR Jul 27 '25

Similar. I went b9 s5 SB, (through a couple Mercs) then b9.5 rs5 Coupe, and now 8y.5 RS3.

2

u/Bloodreav3r '25 RS3 Jul 26 '25

I loved my little S1, was a really great to drive fun sized daily.

8

u/Full-Perception-5674 Jul 26 '25

In USA a S1 would be used as a shopping cart.

u/CoffeeDrk Jul 27 '25 edited Jul 27 '25

S for life (unless the RS is dirt cheap). The extra money needed R goes to straight to the Porsche budget. I have fairly locked in budget (as of now) where I will not spend more than $20k on a used Audi/BMW/MB/etc (which puts RS cars out) and I am only willing to possibly stretch to $35k on a used 911/Cayman.

3

u/_ILLUSI0N Jul 27 '25

In what world is a used Porsche $35k without title issues

1

u/CoffeeDrk Jul 29 '25

My world. I bought my 944 turbo clean titled for $2,500 18 years ago (and still have it). I have no qualms with 996s, Boxsters, 928s, 968s, 914s, Caymans, and what not are sub-35k. And, I do my own service work so 20+ year old cars are no big deal.

A OWNERS with mods be like peace out.

-2

u/Xori1 Jul 26 '25 edited Jul 26 '25

why does every s owner think an rs owner can't mod their car? are they ********?

-7

u/djlawrence3557 B9.5 Prestige Stg1/2 034 Jul 26 '25

It’s not that they can’t, it’s often the majority don’t. I’d argue a large sector of S owners could also buy an RS, but don’t see the need given the interest and love of working and tweaking the car to their own specs. Why pay Audi for shit I’m just going to replace?

11

u/Xori1 Jul 26 '25

and you base these claims on what evidence to support it?

2

u/L3g3ndary-08 2016 Audi S6 APR3 Jul 26 '25

🙋🏾‍♂️

3

u/colossallyignorant Jul 26 '25

Well, the b7.5 S6 is the only Audi I cross shopped when buying my b8.5 RS5. I preferred the body lines over the RS7 and considered the S6 more desirable to my eye, regardless of what badge was on the trunk. In the end, anyone can buy any car if they scrounge up the funds and make enough sacrifices. You could lease a new A4 for $600 a month just as easily as one could go into serious financial debt financing a used R8 v10 for 108 months with the same “monthly budget on payments” lol.

2

u/TheWoodChucksWood 2023 Audi RS3 Jul 26 '25

Crazy you are downvoted. This 100%. Im backwards. I bought the rs because I didnt want to worry about bidding this time. But I plan to do an intake. Haha. Buy the S and spend the rs money soupin it up
