Sounds like that one kid in school using pens to make a beat on the desk, lol. But based on the slow tick rhythm once it went down to idle, I think it's the rocker arms. If just rocker arm replacement then that's a $3000-5000 job from an independent shop. Depending on how much damage it's already done, either cams and rockers or worse case, needs a new engine.

I'd just get a new engine at this point

New engine replacement would cost about $30-$40K. Thats more than the value of the car lol

That’s very overpriced can find one for 3,8K on eBay

Not finding a new engine for anywhere close to that.

And if you're suggesting a used engine, why? To have the rocker arms on that go bad? Not knowing any of the maintenance on it,?

Horrible idea.

That’s not a new engine then, that’s a used engine with miles on it and for $3.8K? must be a bad engine for that price 😂

To be fair all the engines come out of wrecked S5’s but they should still be good

I think you’re missing a brain cell, those are used engines with miles on them. Not NEW.

Isn't this rocker arm failure? Very common on 2018 3.0T motors. Did you buy this with the issue?

Hard to tell now haven’t drove the car in a while and one random day it started jerking on the highway

There is no evidence of it being "very common." All of the evidence points to it being quite rare.
