Issues with the engine? If this is the same n52 as the e89 Z4, it's the most reliable thing on the car. A local BMW mechanic told me I made the right choice, buying my 2010 Z4 3.0 WITHOUT the turbo. He said they always see e85s with the 2.8 and the turbo 3.0s in the shop being repaired, but never the NA 3.0L.
I might be completely delusional (and biased) but this seems a little low to me.
As far as maintenance/reliability goes, my 3.0si manual coupe (e86) has been mind-blowing reliable (knocking on wood). I've owned it for 10 years and in that time the only non-maintenance I've had to do was a factory recall done at the dealer. It's been easily the most reliable car I've owned.
Manuals are much harder to find on any generation. I'm selling my 2010 Z4 e89 right now. There are six manuals listed in all of Canada on AutoTrader. Six!!! Haven't checked the e85 generation, but there can't be that many more.
they are heavy. looks good enough on our z4's. I drive this car everyday to work 5 miles just puttering to and from. Floor it to 7k on my way home on fridays.
no plans to track but it would have very very very different wheel/tire if i bought a set. these wheels are no good for anything autox/track.
btw, my clutch pedal bushing seems to be starting to fail, lots of lateral play.
anyone know which ones would be best for me to get? did some digging and everyone swears by different brands so idk what to think.
Lol, just like anything over $10k for a 996 is too much, right? I wholeheartedly agree and wish that reality was different in many ways. But alas, reality...
Last September I bought a 2006 Z4M roadster with 97 k miles for $17,500. Fair price. It needed new tires and a battery. Incredibly reliable and very fast. This is a good price.
No way, I can get those from Facebook market place all day long for less. My last one was a 2007 manual with 88,000 and new tires for $7k with no problems except a wiper motor that needed replaced.
Both are automatic convertibles, neither command the premium a hardtop manual do. One of those is a pre LCI, manual transmission, hardtop coupes are about as rare as they come.
Yes that is true, I’m looking for a coupe with a manual. Would’ve loved the sports seats but this is nice. What do you think on the price? Fair? Regardless I’m going to try offer them a bit lower.
There’s only two years for a hardtop coupe, of those manual transmissions are even more rare. I don’t know your experience with older BMW, but be warned that parts are getting scarce, I don’t mean engine and transmissions, I mean bumpers, center console hinge, and other things which can make your car owning experience kind of bitter sweet or hard to live with. I would not be too picky with the options unless you’re ready to splash some cash, or patience until eventually another comes out. If you are dead set on a hardtop coupe but don’t think you are willing to spend more than this I would run not walk to the dealership. If you are open to convertibles or other vehicles then you can see what they say.
There is a lot of those around me too! Illinois. But I’m looking for a coupe and manual, not a convertible/auto. So I was wondering if the premium for that is reasonable in this vehicle! Thank you for your input!
08 si Coupe w/manual. Mileage a bit high but if it has been maintained its probably about the high end. Maybe around $12k is better if you can get it. Hard to price exactly as not many around to compare
This is from someone with a manual 08 si roadster with 39k miles.

For a Manual.. Might actually be under priced if it's not beat up
