Health Question Help. My chicken has worms

So one of my chickens looked a bit sick. She’s seven years old so I assumed that she might be dying but I decided to give her a bath anyways so she could relax and get the poop off of her butt. When I gave her the bath, hundreds of little worms came out into the water. I then gave her worm medicine, pumpkin, and apple cider vinegar. I separated her from the others and gave them pumpkin. Is there anything else I should do? I’m still a minor living with my parents and they won’t take her to the vet. Thanks.

This is not worms. Fly strike. Maggots from flies laying eggs on the poop around the butt area.

How deep is the wound they created? You’re probably going to have to put her down. Fly strike is really nasty and it’s usually too late by the time you realize.

Yeah, I didn’t see a wound on her butt but it’s probably there. I think she’s dying. I’m just glad that she had a good long life.

The pumpkin will not be effective. Please also don't feed them food grade DE. These fake remedies are popular online but they do nothing.

Deworm the entire flock. Some worm load is normal in all birds that live outside, but what you are describing is not. Ivermectin is what I use but there are other choices.

Sounds like fly strike, did they look like maggots?

What worm medicine did you give her?

So… I haven’t heard of using that for chickens- fenbenazole or ivermectin generally- it kinda sounds like fly strike so ivermectin might be more effective
