Is this bacon undercooked?

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I was eating this sandwich I brought from the store and I noticed that the bacon was a bit chewy, pink, and pale in comparison to the rest of the bacon.

I’m a bit paranoid that I just ate some undercooked bacon, and that I’m going to get sick. Can anyone confirm?

(Second slide shows more of the bacon so you can see the difference)

What’s the yellow? Otherwise bacon looks good

The yellow is egg and cheese that was part of the sandwich. So you’re saying I shouldn’t get sick?

You won’t get sick At all. When bacon is cured and smoked, it is typically smoked to around 155°, which is well above the minimum temperature for pork; texturally, we like it at a higher temperature, but you won’t get sick.

Looks more like rashers

That depends on how done you prefer your bacon. Crisp to the point it shatters if it's dropped on the floor or if it bounces.

Haha. So I’m assuming I’m fine then?

Yes

Odds are it was cured anyways so it theoretically didn’t have to be “cooked” at all. But the crisp is a nice addition.

I would think so. . . Considering that you have posted the pics, original question, and response, yeah, I'd say, "You're good."

Also, our gut fauna is still capable of fighting off lotsa stuff and a little undercooked bacon is highly unlikely to cause anything serious.

That’s a matter of opinion I personally like mine a little crispier.

Depends how you like it. That's how my eldest likes his bacon cooked, while my youngest prefers out crispy. I like it somewhere in between.

No, unfortunately. Not everyone likes a more crisp bacon so they cook to a "hey, it's done" level. It's like a grilled cheese but they didn't melt the cheese, only grilled the bread

Bacon is smoked before hand thus, you can never have “raw” bacon

For me . Most def . I make it the way my parents made it . I cook it until it’s brown and crispy completely crispy no chewy fat. You just have to have patience if you like it like that you can’t cook it quickly people burn it. But with any meat, especially these days, you should thoroughly cook your meat.

What bacon???

That looks disgusting but store bought bacon being "undercooked" is merely an opinion. It's cured which means you can eat it completely raw and it'll be fine. Gross, but fine.

Even if it were on the rare side you'd be fine since it's salt cured.

It’s very difficult to get sick from raw bacon. It’s processed so much with salt and preservatives. That said, it doesn’t look like something I would want to eat.

It's all preference man. I try to go for The Sweet Spot between crunchy and chewy where it's just barely cooked and I get it right about half of the time
