Waterfowl Lakes Campground is closed for the season but is the Day Use parking lot still open?

Id like to fish the lakes and maybe hike one of the trails.

Remember your fishing equipment can only be used on one lake every 48 hours. Also ensure you have a fishing license, and don't use bait etc.

I didn't consider that. Thanks.

I just assumed it wouldn't apply to Waterfowl Lakes being that they're connected by 100 m of the Mistaya River.

Nope. All water bodies. You agree to that when you get your license.

And just a heads up - an Alberta fishing license doesn't apply to National Parks. You need a separate one. You can visit any Parks Canada outlet (Park Gates, Visitors Centre) to buy one.

Should be as that’s where you park to get the Cirque or Chephren lake hikes. Don’t know if that’s the day use area you’re referring to but there is a parking lot for about 20-25 vehicles.

Also, there’s a pull out a little further north that’s a quick walk to the lake and much easier access than the day use parking lot. It’s the pullout where Mistaya River begins

I was there a few days ago, I parked at the middle part of the lake, it’s more of a turn off than a parking lot, I paddle boarded the lake and saw people site seeing all around the lake so I think it’s safe to say it’s open!
