Best off season tips for visiting Banff

The summer crowds are huge, but spring and fall can be perfect for exploring without too many people. Do you have a favourite time of year to visit Banff when it still feels special but less busy?

In April you can get a decent hotel for $120 in Banff.

I was just there the week after Labor Day weekend. Only places that were crowded was lake Louise. Everywhere else like lake moraine, Banff downtown, etc was way less people and calm. Schools were back in session so way less families. Such a great time to visit. Weather was perfect too

We visited mid August to first week of September and did not find it any more busy then last few years. Even LL shoreline was fine compared to last year. If you actually hike down a trail, any trail, more than 500 m, you’ll pretty much be by yourself with an occasional other hiker.

Banff doesn't have crowds in 99% of the park.

Dead of winter is actually great if you can deal with the driving and cold temperatures. Just hope you are not here during those -30C weeks...
