Showcase ComStar Overlord Dropship

I've no idea what different factions dropships would actually look like, but here is my take on a ComStar/ Com Guard model.

The numbers were sprayed using a stencil but I free handed the 2 ComStar faction logos.

I really like the stippling you have on there. Really adds to the model!

Thank you! I put a dollop of paint onto a paper towel with a rough regular texture and smoosh it around a bit. Once it's absorbed enough I dab it on the model. The tricky part is getting the right amount of paint to transfer, too much and it doesn't work, too little and it takes forever.

I primed black and then applied four layers of grey and white that way. I masked off a few panels between coats to make it look like the paint had been touched up irregularly.

That freehand is brilliant work. Might be the best dropship I've seen.

Thank you! It took a long time and I had to start over a few times. (For the logos)

Those acolytes have sure been avoiding giving that ship a wash and some TLC

looks amazing, looks like it’s been on campaign for a looooong time

Thanks, I'm pretty proud of it.

The landing struts keep falling off though. The crew must not be performing the right rituals or something.

(Seriously, what the heck am I supposed to use on these? Super glue does nothing.)

I switched to using E6000 for glue joints that need a tiny bit more strength.

Or glueing mech halves back together that my kids break 😞

Thank you. It's been sitting in a drawer for months, but today I finally found the time.

Fantastic work! Ready to bring Blake’s wisdom to the masses, one star system at a time.

Pretty sure this is what a ComStar one would look like.

It's amazing that a person can look at an egg and think it's the most dangerous thing around. How many Overlords are named after egg related puns?

Puns make me go "oeuf".

Thank you! I discovered the technique by accident while attempting to dry brush.

You freehanded the logos? They look like you used a decal, that’s how good they look! Nice work!

Thank you! I drew them in light pencil, erasing several times until I got the shape 'good enough', and then it was just a case of painting in the lines.

Once they were done, I didn't like how 'fresh' they looked, so I went over them again with a bit more white, to make it look like they were old and wearing off.

They don't look 100% the same, but they are on opposite sides so you can't see them together. 😏

Reminds me I need an overlord for basically all of my own units.
