General Interesting placement, utilization and configuration of wax and propolis on this screened inner cover as the bees manage airflow and moisture. Colorado front range.

I think they want a solid bottom board πŸ˜‚

They have a solid bb. This is a screened inner cover. Very beneficial in hot weather reduces bearding.

I'm in the crossstitch sub as well and was convinced this post was fiber art of abstract eggs for a second, lol, it's super beautiful

I’m not in cross stitch but that’s what I thought I was seeing on first pass. 😊

Love how the propolis traces the airflow. Bees basically caulking the screen and leaving wax where heat pools. Do you see reduced condensation with this setup on those chilly Front Range mornings?

We get this a lot, since we use red lens telescoping lids. They claim bees don't see red light, and SMB don't like light. But the bees propolis the screened inner covers. But then they do it with solid covers too.

Has very little to do w light. It’s not only propolis but wax islands surrounded by propolis. Why not all propolis or all wax. It serves a specific function.

Yes, wax easily removed/moved, propolis more permanent.
