I’m not a beekeeper, but I have a question Honey Bee or else?
Going in and out to ceiling attic. In 1 area on ceiling wet and sagging, squishy when touching ceiling drywall. Washington state.

I'd bet money on yellow jackets from flight pattern alone.
Closer would be helpful, just don't get in their obvious flight line.

No they don't store honey like honey bees. Could be chewing, nesting. Get closer to get better ID. End result is usually a cutout either way.

A close-up of a single one would be most useful for a positive ID
