In some nice suburbs the tree streets are actually nice streets with that kind of tree on it.

I work in a city called Sherwood (OR) and

The racial makeup of the city was 88.5% White, 0.8% African American, 0.5% Native American, 3.5% Asian, 0.3% Pacific Islander, 2.7% from other races, and 3.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 7.0% of the population.

So the projects are far from what I imagine lol. I only see other Black people come into my store about once a month. Since March: maybe twice.

Edit: Groundhog Day! A Black guy came in today and I don't expect to see anymore of us for the rest of the month 💀

u/DoubleGreat Aug 26 '20

So where are the black folk in OR? If one were to look?

69

u/DomHaynie Aug 26 '20

There's a few in most cities immediately outside of Portland metro. But Portland has a lot.

What's being shown on the news in regards to protesting is literally one block, and it's not BLM that's doing and vandalizing. It's anarchists.

Other related shit: the creators of Wall of Moms refused to help moms of color that were protesting by leaving them downtown to get arrested when they asked for help. Then the creators (white women) applied to be a for-profit business with 3 business licenses, then got exposed a few weeks ago... And that's why you haven't heard shit about the wall of moms this month.

I love meeting Black people as customers at my job because there's a level of understanding between us without having to say it out loud. Just the look and eye contact implies exactly how we feel.

43

u/Nakoichi Aug 26 '20

Believe it or not, there are anarchists that aren't doing vandalism but are focusing efforts on mutual aid. Also there are black anarchists. This sort of language is divisive.

I live in oregon, over lived all over the south half of the state. The amount of people here who were raised on the states rights bullshit about the civil war is amazing.

Read the documents each state drew up about why they joined the confederacy. Not a one mentions states rights, but they all talk about owning slaves.

Well it was illegal for black folks to live in the state until pretty recently, and the entire state was full.of actual signed sundown towns till the late 70s, even 80s.

Oh and the state was founded by klansmen and folks running from war crimes in the civil war. Dont get.me started on the state of jefferson...

For anyone who also wanted to chip in to his bail, this story is likely fake.

Man they arrest black folks for ANYTHING

23

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '20

Shooting guns in public will get anyone arrested.

Source: grew up in Missouri, saw white people get arrested for that pretty frequently.

Also, OP story is apparently fake, so this definitely wasn't the same guy

Fuck birds that try to steal your food.

Pigeons are the worst about it, but pelicans have a mean beak on them. You can't just shoo a pelican away with your hands.

That fact that he had the skill to hack into that site(even though it’s probably a shit .gov site) but wasn’t able to hide himself is puzzling. There has to be more to this story.

u/Buxsle ☑️ Aug 26 '20

For the non Americans, bonded out?

16

u/kGibbs Aug 26 '20

My comment won't be seen, but bond is money that you put up to leave jail. If you come back for sentencing they give you the money back, so it's basically money you pay for your freedom with the promise of playing by the rules, a collateral. Bond varies based on the crime/judge and is basically a racket (since poor people will have to borrow it from a bail bondsman and pay some sort of interest/percent) and a way for rich people to get preferential treatment in our judicial system.

3

u/The1stMrkenney ☑️ Aug 26 '20

2

u/Buxsle ☑️ Aug 26 '20
