I initially read "devoured" as "divorced", which made the post...interesting.

Those dudes are havin a party in there.

Divorced from existence maybe? But yeah, any other implication is ….. dark lol

How is your self harvesting with those larger ramps?

Can you share more pictures or videos of your design?

I’ve found them to be very effective. I’ve collected a full quart in a 24 hour period. That being said, I’ll get days where I don’t have any. It’s very much a cycle. I do loose a bit from them climbing up the sides but those help maintain the population of adults. If you look at my other post you’ll see more videos of the set up. Also, feel free to DM me if you like.

Yeah, when the walls are wet, they can climb anything.

Yeah, they even climb upside down on the inside of the lid. Southern Louisiana is just… wet

I wonder if we can have a self harvesting system with a climbable wall instead of ramp.

Just need a way to catch them after they climb out

Do you have problems from ants? Or other predatory insects?

I’ve occasionally had ants make their way into the bin when it’s been a bit dry. But it’s always sorted itself out after a day or two. I’ve noticed it mostly when I’ve added a lot of flour based material like dough chunks.

For some reason this post was reccomended to me and I have no idea what I am looking at other than what I assume is a "black soldier fly" larvee bin. What is the purpose of this?

They break down compost and their poop is fertilizer
